The following year the graduating
class again undertook the publication
of the naper, and again the paper was
successful.
The A. R. C. Light, however, was not
published In 11116. but last year the
periodical was again put out by the
senior class, with Stein Dunbar as
editor in chief. The A R. C. Light is
strictly a student paper, being entirely
under student management, with stu
dent editors and student contribuors.
All students of the Academy are re
quested to send In articles which are
passed upon by the editors of the va
rious departments under whose head
the article comes.
This year the senior class of the
Academy have again undertaken the
publication of the paper and have
elected the following officers:
.lack Sherman, editor In chief.
Boswell Kifgtbyv literary editor.
A. W. Delquest, Jr., local editor.
Raymond Beall, athletics editor.
Henry VonSprecken, business mana
ger.
Robert Lae, assistant business man
ager.
Carroll Hagler. advertising manager.
George Gibson, jokes.
Billups Dunbar, circulation manager.
A. Markert, exchanges.
The editors are busy as bees getting
the first edition of the paper ready for
the printers and hope to have the pa
per ready for distribution by Novem
ber Ist. So far there have been very
few subscriptions received but It Is
hoped that the sight of the paper will
cause an added stimulus in the swell
ing of the subscribers list. The pa
per, however. Is on a good financial
basis as ths business and advertising
managers have made every effort to
secure advertisers and have succeeded
wonderfully. So all In all, the A. R. C.
Light for ISIT is an assured success.
MORE LIQUOR SENT
TO AUGUSTANS AS
WINTER DRAWS NEAR
An average of six hundred quarts
of liquor per day are handed out to
Augustans over one counter.
The express office on Kills street is
a busy place. To identify three hun
dred people per day and hand out that
many. packages, after going through
the regular “red tape," la no soft snap.
No doubt but that the coming of
winter has a lot to do with the in
crease in the amount of liquor Au
guatans are drinking, and then, may
be. there Is a greater number who
want to keep "within the law.”
Occasionally several packages of
whiskey are aeiaed at the express of
fice by the sheriff's men. When liquor
lies in the ofifice for a matter like
thirty days without being called for,
and Ihe shippers order It returned, it
is seised And every - now and then
County Policeman Murphev will make
an arrest when someone swears false
ly to obtain liquor. However, the
thirsty sojourners are beginning- to
realise thnt Officer Murphey "has their
uumber" usd steer dear of breaking
the law.
