OR. JONES' THEME WILL
BE “CHRIST AND
CONSCRIPTION"
Dr. Carter Helm Jonen preached an
able sermon at the First Haptiat
Church laat night from the text, "Let
Us Ariae and Go Up to Bethel.” The
text was found In the third verae of
the SRtii chapter of Genesis. The word
Bethel means the house of God and Dr.
Jones urged that those who had never
embraced the religion of Jesus Christ
or those who had embraced it and
strayed away from It should corn"
hack. The speaker told of the part
memory often plays In bringing peo
ple hack to God; of how sometimes the
words and music of that great old
song "Home Sweet Home" would cause
a flood of recollections In a wanderer's
mind that would bring him back to
God and to the church.
Dr. Jones' sermon was heard by a
large congregation and his auditors
were entranced by the winsomeness
and the simplicity of his earnest and
eloquent appeal. Dr. Jones Is on# of
the most ettltured ministers In America
today and he occupies one of the lead
ing pulpits In the eountry. There ap
pears to be a longing In him, however,
A Tremendous Sale of

for the simplicity of the old-fashioned
way of doing things and his heart ap
pears to yearn for a little country
church away off In old Virginia, where
he preached while a young minister,
where there was all-day meetings with
dinner on the ground, where the con
verts were Immersed down In the creek
near the church while hundreds looked
on from the hanks. Dr. Jones' word
picture of the little church way back

Don't Let Soap
Spoil Your Hair
When you wusli your hulr, be care
ful wlmt you use. Most soaps and
preparer! shampoos contain too much
alkali, which Is very Injurious, us It
dries the scalp und makes the hair
brittle.
The best thing to use is Just plain
molslflcd cocoanut oil. for this Is pure
nnd entirely gresselcss. It's very
cheap, and beats the most expensive
soups or anything else all to pieces.
You can get this at any drug store,
and a few ounces will lust the whole
family for months.
Simply moisten the hair with water
nnd rub It Ih, about a teaspoonful Is
all that Is required. It makes an
abundance of rich, creamy lather,
cleanses thoroughly, and rinses out
easily. The hair dries quickly nnd
evenly, und Is soft, fresh looking,
bright, fluffy, wavy and easy to han
dle. Besides, It loosens and takes out
every particle of dust, dirt and dan
druff.
