WHY ACCEPT
GRAY MAIM?
It Is Unnecessary
Most women would laugh at the
person who suggested havng the teetn
pulled out because time had impaired
their usefulness; or not caring for the
skin because maturity and wrinkles
usually go together.
Yet many middle-aged women sor
rowfully accept gray hair as inevit
able, when proper care will hold its
dark, youthful color indefinitely.
Q-ban Hair Color Restorer is a de
lightful toilet preparation for restor
ing gray, streaked with gray or faded
hair to its youthful color and lustre.
It is not a dye. It simply brings
back gradually and naturally the orig
inal color and beauty of the hair. Does
not stain the scalp or rub off. Does
not interfere with shampooing or wav
ing. Eradicates dandruff. Easily
applied.
The makers of Q-ban have been
known for a generation as specialists
in the treatment of the hair. Sold by
all reliable druggists everywhere on
Money-Back Guarantee. Price. 75c.

Those of us who are accustomed to

the whole of the internal poisonous

Everyone, whether ailing, sick or

breakfast, drink a glass of real hot
water with a teaspoonful of limestone

HANCOCK CONFIDENT ON EVE OF CLASH
WITH GORDON-SOUTH’S BIGGEST GAME
(By Joe Jacobs).
The attention of the South’s foot
ball fans will be focused on the South
ern Service Championship game to
morrow afternoon. Camp Hancock
and Camp Cordon will ha the partici
pants in what promises to be a most
hectic battle at Warren Park at is
p. m. On the eve of the big contest,
both elevens are confident. But the
confidence is mainly in that their elev
ens will give a good account of itself
and that there will be no walk-away
for their opponents.
Squad Goes Through Favorite
Formations.
Weather conditions were very bad
for football practice yesterday after
noon, but Coach Berry could not af
ford to lose the time in preparation
for the biggest game of the Machine
Gunners' career, tomorrow, when they
line-up against the doughboys. While
many expert men. like Jack Helsman
and Dock Jamison, have gone on rec
ord as favoring The representatives of
Hancock, it is well knownthat Coacn
Berry and Captain Ashmore are not
gong to let their proteges get too con
fident, and they have never let up in
their drilling into the Machine Gun
ners’ heads that this is the game that
will make or break their reputation of
being one of the greatest service foot
ball machines in the country today.
Blue and Red to Use Brain as Well
as Biawn.
A firm believer in brain as well as
brawn, Coach Berry at < the post of
quarterback, introduced a unique form
of skull practice, in order to sharpen
the mental machinery of the Hancock
eleven in preparation for the game
with Coach Stewart’s Gordonites to
morrow. Rough work, with its pos
sibilities in the way of eleventh-hour
injuries was eliminated from the Gees'
practice, but the players entered into
the signal drill with all the vim and
dash of a mid-week battle hour. The
practice, with Howard Berry piloting
the first team, included all the motions
of a hard scrimmage, with all of'the
smash ’em up, tear ’em up, knock ’em
down and when they get up knock ’em
down again, that marks the real Ma
chine Gunners' click plays.
Lots of Snap and Pep.
The team wont through one of the
snappiest signal drills seen on the
field this season. The players were
full of ginger and were kept going at
full speed by Berry, who did not give
them a chance to let up for a minute.
The squads went up and down the
field several times, and from time to
time Coach Berry would call a halt
in order to point out to one of the men
what he was doing wrong. The inter
ference which that splendid array of
baekfield men, Derr, Berry, Foster,
Rawson, Crosley and Y’ork, displayed
during the practice, was very pleasing
to the catch. The presence of Jack

MERCHANTS WHO INVEST IN AUGUSTA HERALD ADVERTISING GET LARGE PROFITS
York at quarterback seemed to indi
cate that Coach Berry will use him in
this position pan of the time at least
in the Gordon game.
"Jab” Murray, the center, still is on
the injured list and will not start
against the doughboys. Adams or
Branca will probably get this place.
The art of forward passing seems to
have been perfected in a most master
fi* manner, and it was very seldom
yesterday that either Guimares and
Austin, Verdernack and David, the
two sterling pair of Hancock ends,
would raise the long passes which
were forwarded to them by Berry and
York.
Colorado Star Out for Center.
A very promising candidate for the
position of center appeared in the line
yesterday, namely "Vic” Adams, for
merly of the University of Colorado,
and who was picked by the sport
scribes of that state for all-Colorado
honors during the year of 1917. A
very interesting fact concerning
Adams is that he has at some time in
the past been coached by Captain Jas.
N. Ashmore, and front what could be
seen of "Vic's” first workout with the
Machine Gunners, it appears as though
a new find lias been acquired by the
Camp Hancock aggregation. The
captain personally instructed the new
comer in reference to the signals, ana
after a little difficulty with the first
two plays, he got along splendidly, ana
with another day’s practice, it will be
well lor all the Gordon eleven to be
ware of Adams if he gets into the
game tomorrow.
Many Features.
There are many features attached to
the big Thanksgiving clash. Two of
the greatest backfleids that this coun
try has ever produced, are going to
lead the rival clans. Derr, one of the
hardest charging full backs starring
in service football, will face one of
America’s all-around football players
in Thompson of Gordon. Murray,
von Kolnitz and Kurtz of Gordon will
be well matched in Rawson, Crosley
and \ork. The Machine Gunners have
no fear of the comparison of their
baekfield with the doughboys. The
line is the real answer. If the Han
cock line, composed of Hawkins, I,an
caster, Gerber, Reutz, Koch. Rranca
or Adams, can hold the crack Gordon
line composed of Nlble, Beers. Weston,
May and Davis, and crush them un
times, then the greatest
football crowd that has ever seen a
football game in Augusta will see one
of the greatest games they have ever
attended.
will have his goal-kicking

fields will be well-matched, and It ts
safe to say that all those who attend
the game are going to witness a clash

he American service.

The peculiar effect on the blood

your blood happens to be in bad con

Boils and carbuncles are evidence
of disordered blood. They do not
necessarily mean an Inherited taint,
but they tell you that your blood is
poisoned—that the life-giving stream
that should flow through your veins

become upset, maybe by over-eating
and drinking, possibly by constipation,

Every part of the body is dependent
upon the blood for nourishment and
strength, and when for any cause this

nourishment from the blood, grow In
active and dull, and the waste and
bodily impurities that should pass oft
