New York, Nov. 26.—A procession,
estimated to extern! twenty-seven
blocks, will start from upper Broad
way Home tine next week and slowly
march to lower Bowlins' Green. It will
comprise a score or more truckr. Ind
ent'd with mo)lon pictures films which
have served Its purpose In depleting
the horrors of the Hun. Now they
are considered paryte and -arc to he
dumped, dumped unceremoniously, In
to the lower bay.
Another group may follow with war
plays which have be>-n written and
produce/] during the past three years,
. rid the greatest procession of all. If
the suggestion of Mile, Lucie Lacosfe
Is accepted, will be the leads of war
tongs which are to be dumped into the
deep.
Mile. Laeoste Is a writer, dramatist
and actress. Khe has written rtiueh on
the war herself, but had the foresight
to appeal more to the lntelligence.than
the emotions, hence her plays prom
ise to retain their place.
"But the songs." she moans, "the
songs have proven the nightmare of
the patriots who have been working
at home Instead of the front. They
have been written by aongsmltha, by
shopgirls, by plumbers and truck
drivers They have transgressed ev
ery rule of sense and intelligence and
have come from the presses faster
then they could be destroyed. Not
the least good omen of peace Is the
departure of these literary and vocal
constrorltles Of the thousands that
have been written less than a score
will remain alive to welcome thes ol
dlers when they return."
The next wave will he of "victory
soriKH." Already they have started to
arrive
"Hay, Fritz, wo knew we’d give you
fits, with a mllloln Yankee hits, we
blew you Into bits. You had to call It
quits” Is one of them which they are
Irylng to sing In the vaudeville houses
this week, while another bursts Into
uong with "Good bye, France, we’d love
to linger longer, but wo must go home.
Folks are waiting to welcome ua now
across the foam.”
wave of patriotic singing which
* swept over the United States since
we havo been a party to the great
world w'ar. Is to be given a new appli
cation If the efforts of American sin
gers are successful. Community sing
ing hss received a remarkable Impel urf
since the soldiers sailed away, because
It has received Its largest contribution
of voices from the women of the sol
diers’ families.

Now, however, the effort Is being
made to make Thanksgiving Day »
great event of vocal rejolslng. Mad

soldiers .and sailors from the artistic
professions who may require a conva

ment.
"To sing, is a natural desire when
we. are happy,” Madame Clemens de
clares, “and Americans are happy at.
this time, happy because all that we
have fought for has been won. happy
because those who fought are coming
back to us. and happy because the
world has come out free from the con
taminating Influence of barbarity and
despoliation Thanksgiving takes a
new Inspiration with us this year, and
no American, dating from the days of
the Puritans who created this day of
annual thanksgiving, has ever had
such Justification for giving thanks
as we have. And to make It a day of
Joyous song will be In harmony with
the spirit of the American people.”
If the plan Is successful, every city,
town, village and hamlet will give up
a port of the day to celebration by
community singing. It will be the
"community sing” which has been so
strenuously agitated carried to Its pat
riotic consummation. Music teachers
have taken up the Idea with favor, and
the smaller communities with their
more porieratlous ones will have an op
portunity to sing their happlne.ss.
"Besides commemorating the glo
rolus occasoln." Madame Clemens con
cludes, "It will be an Important step
In stimulating muslc-lovo and Interest
In the American people, which they so
badly need.”
Madame Marguerlta Sylva, the noted

will be Imposed upon Germany. She
Is Interested not only because she Is
the wife of an American officer, but
also because her Interest In music.
"One of the conditions which should
be Imposed," she declares with empha

[ Bulgaria wants 1)0,000 tons lmmedlate

100,000 tons at steady Intervals until
the next harvest Is available. After
that Bulgaria will have grain to ex

feed herself from lier own crops.
Bolshevism made only a sporadic

collapsed. Demonstrations were held

and there Is no prospect of disorders

Each peasant owns his own land In

Is emphasised tn a remark which It is
learned a German delegate made to
General Koch during the armistice ne

"We are unable to move forward or

The German admitted that the cutting
of their lateral lines of communication
and lack of transport had rendered

by the e tinate that nearly a million
bales were damaged by the frost. Of
this amount about 550,000 bales were

"snapped" or picked. Some of the cot
