THE AUGUSTA HERALD
HERE IT IS
To the big Manufacturer, Wholesaler and
Retailer, Time is Money, time is prgfit. How
many times the big business has longed for
a couple of hours more time per day. Man
agers and Shipping Clerks of large concerns
spent hours trying to solve the problem of a
little more time. Rig men in big jobs have
lost out because of their inability to crowd
12 houss work into ten. The Goodyear Tire
& Rubber Co. have spent thousands of dol
lars, and months of time to the study of this
problem, and today they have solved it, and
still they are spending thousands of dollars
and months of time too—using the expres
sion of Mr. May: “Show' you” that is solved.
They did not spring the solution on the
public immediately they formed the idea, but
they equipped trucks of their own and put
them on a route between Akron, Ohio, and
Boston, Mass., carrying tires and tubes to
Boston and bringing back fabrics to Uie fac
tory. Night and day these trucks plugged
along with their h• avy loads. Every little
trouble was given careful study and finally
eliminated, until last Saptember*they sent
iwo of these big trucks across the Conti
nent from Boston to Han Francisco, Los An
geles and back to Boston.
Having proven b i yond all doubt that their
solution wan correct, they are now' sending
these two trucks into the territories which
have not had the opportunity of being con
vinced that the big truck Pneumatic is the
tim • saver we have all been looking for.
Goodyear is doing more than ‘‘Showing
You,” they are teaching their dealers
throughout the country the proper way to
equip your truck and car. They are teach
ing them to study the conditions under which
you operate and to meet these conditions cor
rectly and efficiently and this means time
and money to the purchaser.
You ask if Mr. May’s investment will pay
him. The answer is yes, and we are prepared
to show you with actual figures, not esti
rnat d, but figures gained from actual com
parison. One two-ton truck equipped with
solids and one'two-ton truck equipped with
Goodyear Cord Pneumatics, both trucks of
the same make and working under abso-
the same conditions for a period of
one year, the average mileage made on these
test the 12000 miles per year, the sold tires
will give a gasoline consumption of six miles
per gallon, white the pneumatics will give
an average of 10 miles to the gallon.
2000 gallons of gasoline on
solids at 27c $510.00 for gas
1200 gallons of gas. on
pneumatics at 27c $324.00 for gas
A saving on gasoline alone of $216.00 pr. year
The depreciation on a two-ton truck on
o lids as figured hv Effiqjnecy Experts is 20
per < ?nt for the first yean while the depre
ciation on pneumatics is only 10 per cent, a

saving of $250.00 on a truck costing $2,500.00.
On actual cost records, the repairs on the
trucks equipped with solids cost .02 per cent
per mile, while the truck equipped with
pneumatics costs only .01 per cent, or a sav
ing of 50 per cent on repairs. Figured on a
12000-mile basis, we have a saving of $120.00.
By adding the three items mentioned above,
we get the following results:
Saving on Gasoline $216.00
Saving on Depreciation 250.00
Saving on Repairs 120.00
Total savings on pneumatics $586.00
Cost of pneumatics over solid equip
ment 376.90
Saving over Solids $209.10
You will note that we have included only
three items, having said nothing of the sav
ing in oil consumption, which will easily
figure 20 per cent. Neither have we men
tioned the saving in time, which is after all
the largest factor to be considered.
Goodyear. Rheumatics are now' in service in
every state in the Union, doing farm hauling,
saw mill hauling, lumber hauling in the
Cities, and in fact there is practically no bus
iness that you can mention but what some
where in the United States, Godyear Pneu
matics Cords are carrying the loads, and
from every one comes the expression of sat
isfaction.
This record does discount the solid
tires’ ability in service for which it is fitted,
hut it does emphasize the correctness of the
Pioneer Goodyear Pneumatic Cord Truck
Tires as equipment more suitable in haul
ing work either traction, cushioning or ra
dius of action are prime factors. It also em
phasizes another feature, before making a
change over, consult the Dealer who you are
sure is in a position to analyze your needs
correctly, otherwise you are liable to make
unnecessary large expenditures without ob
taining the desired result."
The Lewis Auto Accessory Company are
local dealers for the Goodyear Truck Tires
and the account is in the best of hands, this
concern is a live wire and the business is
increasing every month. Mr.'John H. Lewis
handles the sales end and is one of the most
progressive and popular men in Augusta and
well known not only to the Automobile trade
but to all in August and the surrounding
territory. Mr. Jno. B. Blitchington is a new
member of this concern and he is one of the
hardest working mon in Augusta and has
brought to th - firm a large amount of busi
ness. In addition to the Tire business, they
are agents so * the popular Exide Battery and

Accessories and also have a modern Vul
canizing plant. Whenever you wac.f to know
anything regarding Automobile Tires, call
up this firm and th ! 3y will be glad to talk
