The shortage of crude is estimated to be a* high ah 60,000 barrels a day in the Mid-Continent alone. There are at present and in process of construc tion, refining capacities in the Mid continent arid Texas area* for 826,000 barrels of crude daily. The production of crude from al section available for this maximum of capacity admittedly is short and if the country were dependent upon the dally output of the refineries for its ganoiine there would be some cause for alarm. This is not the rase at t he present time, however. According to officers there are considerable stocks of gaso line in store, sufficient to meet the de mand which will come immediately the weather warm* up and cars begin to be used to their maximum. The saving factor in the situation has been the weather, which has continued cold and inclement, and which has prevented the consumption of gasoline normal to this time of year. With the present stocks on hand and the production of the ad* mltted shortage of crude, there is no reason to be apprehensive about a shortage. often a bit of ordinary soap rubbed In will answer. Rut If you are caught without a spare tire. It Ih advisable to 1 know* how to get home without ruining l the rltn of your wheel. One way Is to j wind rope, cloth or even vines around 1 your flat tire and the rib of the wheel, and drive carefully and slowly until you get to a repair station If your tire Is pretty well worn out anyhow, another! method Is to stuff It with straw, grass) or vines, put it hack on the rim and drive slowly home.
