It Is n mistake to charge personal

see Blease get in the senate not to
let Dial get into the second race."
Mr. McMahan also attacked for
mer Governor Cole L. Blease and
asked if there tvas anything in his
public career that warranted his
being sent to the senate. He said
Blesses fight for states' rights ap
pealed to him as mere words.
Mr. Blease ignored Mr. McMa
han's references to him when he
took the platform and made no
mention of them in-his address. He
cited his record of his fight for
states' rights which he said dated
from 1905 when he fought the Hick
militia bill as senator from New
berry. He Indorsed the prohibition
amendment and pleaded for a re
version to family prayer as a means
of eliminating war.
BURNES REVIEWS
RECORD IN HOUSE
Congressman James F. Byrne*
said If there was to be a second
primary race for the senatorial

and Mr. Blease. Mr. Byrne* review
ed his record In the house and de
nounced the Esch-Cumrolns trans
portation law a* discriminatory
against the farmers, pledging him
self to an attempt to get relief. He
told the audience of how he, with
others, defeated a large appropria
tion designed for a negro university
in Washington. He said he upheld
the principle of federal aid for roads
and schools so long ns rlpht to
control Is left exclusively In the
hands of the states.
Thursday’s meeting was presided
over by County Chairman J. D.
Friday’s meeting will be held in
