during the early dealings. The open
ing, which ranged from He decline to
tic advance was followed by slight
gains nil around.
Corn showed decided Weakness.
Favorable weather and lack of*buying
support were chiefly responsible.
After opening at % lower to % gain
the market underwent a sharp general
setback.
Oat* were easier owing to sympathy
with corn. Starting unchanged to *,l
lower; prices continued to sag. Pro
visions scored small gains.
Corn Closed heavy s% to 6% net
lower. Wheat closed unsettled 1% to

that the trade had been a heavy
buyer In the break In the local mar
ket lata Tuesday and that eplnne*
had boon calling cotton heavily In
Liverpool this morning. October sold
up to 21.95 and December to 21.57 on
rebuying by recent si llers and a fur
ther demand from the trail,- hut the
south Was a considerable seller here
and the opening demand was soon
supplied, prices easing off 20 to 25
points from the best during the early
trading.
A private report was Issued show
ing a condition of 53 and a crop indi
cation of 12,720,060 bales or 13,100,000
bales based on the government pars
and acreage.
The weekly report of the weather
bureau exerted little effect but pri
vate reports of delays in picking or
marketing cotton because of the re
cent rains helped the rally. October
advanced to 22 00 and December 21.61
with the general mavket ruling about
23 to 36 points net higher at mid
day. «
