business of the Southern Finance
Corporation is very broad. It deals
largely In discounting automobile
purchase money notes, makes rea’
estate loans and appraisals and
handles all forms of Insurance, ex
cepting only life.
The Southern Finance corpora
tion writes all forms of automobile
insurance, fire Insurance, work
men’s compensation, hall and wind
storm Insurance, plate glass Insur
ance, use and occupancy insurance,
burglary insurance, tourist baggage
insurance, etc., and also handles all
forms of surety bonds, Including
fidelity, Judicial, contract and li
cense and permit bonds, malntain
nlg a separate department to take
care of this business.
Another department is organized
to handle exclusively the financing
of automobile notes, and still an
other department to transact all
business concerning real estate
loans and appraisals.

The International Agricultural
Corporation, with main offices In
New York, and Southern Head
quarters in Atlanta, Georgia, is one
of the largest fertilizer organiza
tions In the country, with branch
offices and subsidiaries all ovef the
Kastern half of the United States.
The Augusta division of the cor
poration was established about a
year ago, the Company recognizing
in this city, a splendid location for
serving the users of fertilizer In
this surrounding territory. In ad
dition to the offices • located here,
the Company owns and operates a
large plant, which Is located on
the Belt Line Railroad, to the
South of the city. The Augusta
division covers », territory radiating
from this point »Vom 75 to 125
miles.
The Seacoast Fertilizer Company
which is a subsidiary of the Inter
national Agricultural Corporation,
is also located in Augusta. This
concern manufactures the well
known "Red Gull” brand of ferti
lizer. The Seacoast Fertilizer
Company opened offices in Augusta
some seven or eight years ago, and
was the first tenant to occupy
office space in the Lamar Building,
after Its reconstruction, following
the Augusta fire of March 1916.
Those connected with the above
concerns feel that the Augusta ter
ritory is one of the best sections
in which to do business in the
South and look forward to better
things In the Fertilizer Industry
