SERIES NOTES
WASHINGTON. —The record for
the most bane hits in a world s
series game has lien tied by both
"Goose" Goslin, Washington slug
ger. and Freddy Lindslfom, sensa
tional voung third sicker of the
Giants. Goslin, who lias also tied
Babe Ruth's mark of three homers
in a series blasted out four safe
blows Tuesday, while Lindstrom
got four hits Wednesday in five
times at bat. The mark first was
set bv Tommy Leach of Pittsburgh
in 1903. and had been equalled by
eleven other players prior to the
1924 series.
The record of ten homers for
two clubs in a series, set by the
Yanks and Giant* last year, also
may be eclipsed if the sluggers keep
lip their present pace. Eight have
been recorded so far, each club
getting four, Gorlin's trio and one
bv Harris make up the Senators
total, while Terry. Kelly, Ryan and
Bentley have chalked up the Giants
clouts.
Only three of these homers have

At Flower Acres, the beautiful

In the wide doorway between the

and n door facing west, both swung
on their hinges.
And on the floor, crumpled Into
an ungainly heap, lay the Inert form

Three days before Malcolm Fin-

The quickly successive sensa

old landmarks until alone in his
room at the Waldorf, he began *o

Accordingly he renched for the
telephone and confided his wishes
to Ezra Goddard.
During dinner, Finley learned all
that he wanted to know about busi
ness, politics and friends. Goddard
was a storehouse of Information on
these points, and guided by an oc
casional question, be placidly pour

"All right, Goddard, I'm fed up
with Wall Street details. So now
with nboiit—Nancy?"
E*ra Goddard looked st bis host
thoughtfully.
"You went away when she mar
ried. didn't you?"
"Yes—when she married that un
speakable man!"
"Because she married him?"
"Partly. What about the girl? Ho
you ever see her?"
“Oh. often. They live out on Long

"Then be lias done her well?"

1923 STARS DON’T
SHINE THIS YEAR
DETROIT, Midi. —Three of the
greatest recruits in .the 1923 Am
erican I,vague campaign were
tlelnie Manush, Detroit; Bill
Kamm. Chicago, and Homer Sum
mi, -Cleveland. They were her
alded far and wide as coming stars.
They were termed the finds of the
season. Sluch was expected of
them.
But this year they have been
anything but the brilliant fielders
and stout hitters of the 1923 chase.
Manush, a 350 hatter In his first
vear in fast company, is now hit
ting around .260. Counted upon by
Manager Cobh to fill the position
loft vacant by the passing of
Bobby Veach, the former Western
League star has been a huge disap
pointment.
Kamm, the SIOO,OOO boy from San
Francisco, is in the same boat.
Kamm. in 1923. hit over .300. He
was up near the top tn clouting

LEFT TO r.IOIIT, PECKINPAUGH, HARRIS AND JUD^a
The whole baseball world acclaims this Washington Infield trio the
fastest double-play combination on the dlamont today. In fact, a lot
of experts think that the Nationals, in reck and Harris, have the fast

Time was. In the height of the old Chicago Cubs' glory, when th"
baseball world thrilled to the old slogan, "Tinkers to Evers to. Chance."
Hut it is doubtful If that trio, great as It was had any edge at all on
