MY HOME WELL BACK FROM
THE STREET
By REV. C. H. BUCHANAN
Give me a home well back from
the street
Away from its dust and din,
In a well-kept plot, with a wide
open sate.
And a "Welcome to all, drive in."
With plenty of shade and a wide,
green lawn,
With child and pets at play.
And birds with silvery notes at
dawn
To welcome tho new-born day.
No room, you say, In this mundane
sphere
For luxury's waste like this;
No time to spend with starvation
near,
Sitting in leisurely bliss.
Nay; but why this racing, tills mnd
'ning haste
Hither and thither through life,
This wrecking of nerves and hid
eous waste
Of soul in strenuous strife?
There's plenty of room In this big
old earth
Ts those who skelter and roam
Could pauso for a spell and meas
ure tho worth,
The charm, and beauty of home.
Why rob one’s soul of its natural
rights.
Its Calm to all that's best.
When life is full of native delights.
The chiefest a Bethel of Rest.
I see from my home well back from
the road
The frowns on the faces of men
Whose total of thought and merci
less load
Speak loudly Of grasping for
Bain.
With soul all aflame In mad’nlng
chase
They, scurrying breathlessly by.
Miss all the charm of nature's fair
grace,
But —never a charm miss I.
At twilight of life, all garnerlngs
done.
The "net” of the gleanings all
made.
What richer Is he with his guerdon
won,
Deducting the price he paid?
"Millions,” perhaps , in his treas
urer house stored,
I,ie useless to molder to dust;
The hand of the gleaner eternally
j gored,
! His soul all sordid with rust.

MRS. SCHWEIKERT TALKS ON
THE SUBJECT OF
CORSETS
One of the leading questions of
the day. along feminine lines, is the
corset, what to wear and how to
wear It, and nowhere can this ques

swered than by a little chat with
Mrs. Schweikert of the J. B. White
corset department. Mrs. Schwei

things that while it is true many
women are changing thdlr corsets
and wearing new models, the well
dressed women of culture and poise
are still wearing their individual
style of corset. Thnt the rubber
