When the second jury left tho

AS THEY TELL IT
(By Korbs)
Just when we were looking for an
accommodating snake to bite us.
Dr. R. L. Rhodes somes along and
says It is adding Insult to Injury
to treat snake bite with whiskey;
that more folks die from whiskey
than snake bite.
We knew these flappers would
get Into trouble sooner or later
from bobbing their hair. A care
taker of an estate in Massachu
setts mistook the bushy bobbed hair
of a girl foor a woodchuck and pep
pered her head with buckshot.
"Be sure your sins will find you
out." Bible admonitions fit every
situation, even today. Hence, we
read of an Augusta boy riding a
stolen bicycle, being run down by
an automobile.
“Gives Sermon on Gospel." reads
a headline In one of tho state news
papers. Preachers so seldom dis
cuss the gospel from the pulpit
nowadays that the newspapers can
not refrain front exploiting such a
novelty.
A recent writer of note on eti
quette declares it to be execrable
to say: "Pardon me" In disturb
ing others when passing. May be
right, but a more effective way is
to yell: “Gang way" Not elegant
maybe, but It gains attention and
action.
Proper observance of Fire Pre
vention was Impressively brought
to a man's attention some nights
ago when he thoughtlessly threw
a lighted cigarette stump on the
pavement and a young miss of Just
a few summers at,-lading close by
stamped out the light and said In a
sweet childish voice: “Don’t you
know this Is fire prevention week?"
