FRIDAY, OCTOBER 24
SOCIETY
Anniversary Celebration Saturday
of Wilhenford Children’s Hospital
Tomorrow, Saturday Oct. 25th,
the directors of the Children's Hos
pital Association will be at McLel
land's 5, 10 and 15 cent store to re-
Pimples
You will be startled how quickly
and thoroughly you can stop skin
eruptions and beautify your
complexion with S.S.S.
PIMPLES are the first thing one
notices in another person's
face. It is too often cruel in its
mis judgment. It judges from what
It sees on the outside. Pimples are
easy to get rid of. Moro red-cells!
That is what you need when you
see pimples staring at you in the
mirror. Red-cells mean clear, pure,
rich blood. They mean clear, rud
dy, lovable complexions. They
mean nerve power, because all
your nerves are fed by your blood.
They mean freedom forever from
pimples, from blackhead pest, from
boils, from eczema and skin erup
tions; from that tired, exhausted,
Tun-down feeling. Red-blood-cells
are the most important thing in the
world to each of us. S.S.S. will aid
Nature in building them for you!
S.S.S. has been known since 182 S
as one of the greatest blood-build
ers, blood-cleansers and system
strengtheners ever produced. Start
taking S.S.S. today. Its medicinal
ingredients are purely vegetable.
« S. S. S. is sold at all good
M drug stores in two sizes. Tho
jgijvfe, larger size is more economical.

~ ONE FRIEND TELLS
ANOTHER
The fame of a successful remedy Is
often spread far and wide by women
telling one another of its merits, as
is evidenced by a letter written by
Mrs. Delbert Bush of Masena, N. Y.
She writes: "I was in such a bad
condition I rould hardly walk, a
friend who had taken Lydia E. Pink
ham's Vegetable Compound with ex
cellent results advised me to try it.
It has given me back my health and
I cannot praise it enough." There
are women everywhere who have
been benefited by Lydia E. Plnkham's
Vegetable Compound and gladly tell
their friends and neighbors about It.

TRAIL’S END
I used to think old age a desert
land, -
A place of broken dreams and faint
desires.
Of vanished friendships and of
lonely days—
The banked gray ashes of life's
early fires.
But now, as lightly down my foot
steps go
Into that valley which they say is
drear, #
I find the banks are blue with
violets.
i And all the springtime birds are
I singing here.
I used to think my heart would be
so sad
'Twould spill its tears to see an
other smile,
But I am still a child of Laughter
Town,
Gay as the friend who walks with
me my mile.’
I learn Soul is as ageless as the
dawn,
That all love's messengers around
me sing.
So walk serenly in a pleasant path
Fall Is the gentle replica of Spring.
—Rose Willis Johnson, in the
Christian Herald.

THE “KAISER’S (?) LATEST
IMPUDENCE
(Macon News)
It would seem that solitude and
the leisure for reflection would
enable the former kaiser to realize
something of the enormity of the
crime he committeed against his
own people, as well as against the
civilized world In general. All the
evidence goes to show, however,
that he is not only unrepentant,
but is more selfish and impudently
grasping than ever before.
He looks upon himself as a deeply
Injured man, who ought to be com
pensated by the government for the
Immense estates he once enjoyed in
Germany.
But his Impudence reaches the
climax when he actually comes for
ward and claims part of the war
loot, stolen by Germany in the most
ruthless and predatory war of
modern times.
It will be remembered that during
the campaign in Belgium, the Ger
mans plundered the cathedral of
Ghent. It was one of the most
dastardly pieces of vandalism in the
history of the world. Among the
loot were two famous pictures by
Van Eyck—an altar piece and the
"Adoration of the Lamb.’’
The terms of the treaty of Ver
sailles required that these pictures
should be returned, which of course
was a matter of simple honesty, not
to say justice.
The two pictures were duly re
turned to the cathedral. The ex
kaiser, however, maintains that this
war loot was his personal property
and qfilms that the German gov
ernment, having returned it to Bel
gium. must compensate him and
pay hinm the value of the two pic
tures. A more extraordinary and
impudent claim was never advanc
ed by nny human being. But,
strange to say, William of Hohen
zollern has won nearly nil the ac
tions he has brought in the German
law courts. Up to date more than
*10,000,000 has been paid to him by
the German government.
The kaiser, even when he was tho
kaiser, was not a heroic figure. He
was Just a plnchback pretender to
ail the arts and sciences, n coward
—as his final flight proved—and a
puffed up piece of mediocrity. He
stands forth now as perhaps the
most contemptible figure in all the
Perhaps It would not be worth
while to be "kicking s dead ass.”
ns the proverb goes, the point is
that In permitting him to get away
with all this loot, the German peo
ple are putting a premium on fu
ture villalnty.
A picture of himself as he really (
la, mind, heart and aoul. Is the onlv ,
appropriate gift that could be made
to him.
And he should be eomnelled to sit
up and contemplate it all day
long.
