Th« City Council of Augusta hereby
ordains:
Section I—That Section 541 of the
City Code of 1909 as heretofore
amended be ao amended aa to strike
therefrom the following language, to
wlt: "The regular atandlng Commlt

of Council, or as soon thereafter as
practicable)" "And to Insert In lieu
thereof the following: "The regular

addition to amend said Sec
tion 641 ao that when amended the
same will read as follows:

Section I—That Section 286 of the

Section 1 -That Section Bfi9, Supple
ment to the City Code of 1909 be, and
the same is hereby, amended so as lu
read as follow's:
‘‘Section 889 (a), Sub-Section 1
That front and after the passage of
this Ordinance, the offices of the In
spector of Buildings, and Inspector
of Plumbing, are hereby created,
which offices shall be filled on the
second Saturday In .January, 1925, and
trlennially thereafter, by election by
Council. Said Inspector of Buildings,
and Inspector of Plumbing, shall each
hold office for a term of three (3)
years, unless sooner removed by
Council, and they shall receive such
compensation as Council may from
time to time allow.
"Bub-Section 2—That the duties of
said Inspector of Buildings, and In
spector of E’lumhing, shall he to per
form all the duties heretofore per
formed and required of the. Inspector
of Buildings, and hy the inspector of

COAL DELIVERED IN THE CITY
OF AUGUSTA, AND FOR OTHER
PURPOSES.
The Cfty Council 0( Augusta hereby
ordains:
Section I—That1 —That the Inspector of Li
cense of the City of Augusta shall not
less than three times a month Inspect
the weights of coal being furnished
by a seller of coal In the City of Au
gusta to their customers, also that the
scales of the seller of coal shall be
tested twice each month as to ac
curacy. Inspection shall be as fol
lows; The License inspector and any
persons appointed thereafter by the
to Inspect weights of coal shall
stop any coal wagon, truck or any
other vehicle loaded with coal for de
livery to a buyer in tiie City of Au
gusta and take the driver and coal to
the most convenient scale, properly
Inspected by tlie City authorities and
w'elgh the same, he shall then pro
ceed with the driver to the point of
delivery, after the coal has been de
livered he shall proceed back to the
same scales on which the coal and ve
hicle were weighed and weigh the
wagon or truck or other vehicle, and
thus ascertain the net weight of the
coal. Should such inspector or any
one appointed by the Mayor as here
inafter provided, find that the seller
of coal is furnishing less by weight of
coal than he has contracted to fur
nish to the customer, he shall docket
a case In the City Court against the
seller of coal, and he shall be prose
cuted for a misdemeanor In said Cltv
Court under Section 706 of the penal
Code of 1910. If the same seller is
convicted for a second offense, his
license shall be revoked by the Mayor.
In the event there is a variation of
not more than two (2) per cent in
weight as shown by delivery ticket,
there shall be no case docketed
against the seller.
Section 2—That all sellers of coal in
the City of Augusta shall provide
tickets and furnish the person deliv
ering the coal with tickets showing
the gross, tare ana net weights of
coal to be delivered, and no person de
livering coal In the City of Augusta
shall leave the place where the same
is located into the vehicle for delivery
without a ticket showing the gross,
tare and net weights of the coal, in
the event any persons delivering coal
is found with a load of coal for de
livery without such ticket, he shall
upon conviction thereof In the Recor
der's Court, be fined not more than
one hundred ($100.00) dollars. When
ever the inspector shall find a person
delivering less by weight of coal than
is herein provided, he shall take the
ticket from the person delivering less
by w’eight of coal than is herein pro
vided. he shall take the ticket from
the person delivering the coal and
Klve him a receipt therefor. This
ticket shall be introduced in evidence
on the trial of the seller of the coal,
as evidence of the intention of the
seller to sell less coal than he con
tracted to sell.
Section 3—Tlio Mayor of the City of
Augusta is hereby authorized and di
rected from time to time to appoint
from among the employes of the City
or Augusta employed at the Central
City Offices not less than two em
ployees and they and each of them,
are hereby clothed with all of the
powers of the inspector of licenses
with reference to the delivery of coal
Section 4— Any person who shall re
sist - license inspector, or anyone au
thorized to inspect coal, and who
shall not co-operate with him in every
way to ascertain the net weight of
coal, shall be guilty of resisting an
officer, and upon conviction he pun
ished by the Recorder by a fine of
s°f. m °re than one hundred ($100.00)
dollars.
Section s—-ATI ordinances and parts

Section 1. That, Whereas, the
Board of Health did, on November
Ist, 1924, recommend that the sewer
hereinafter described, should be con
structed and laid down, the Commis
sioner of Public Works having fur
nished said Board of Health esti
mates of the cost thereof and plans
and profiles and other work neces
sary and proper, there shall be con
structed and laid down sewer on the
following street:
On Adrian Street, from Central
Avenue to McDowell Street, such
sewer to have a diameter of from
8 to 10 inches, to be built of Terra
Cotta pipe.
Section 2. That the sewer shall be
constructed and laid down and to
carry such rights and burdens as are
fully set forth and provided for In
Sections 822 and 823 of the City Code

The City Council of Augusta hereby
ordains:
Section 1. That ordinance No. i 9
approved February 7th, 1922. entitled:
"An ordinance to amend Section 339
(a) of the City Code of 1909." be and
the came is hereby, repealed.
Section 2. That all officers and
employees heretofore appointed by
the Mayor, subject to the approval of
tho Council, shall, from and after the
passage of this ordnance, be elected
by Council.
Section 3, Thit the following shall
he deemed officers of the City of Au
gusta and shall he elected for a term
of three 13) years, bv Council, cm the
second Saturday of Januarv. 1925, and
every three years thereafter, or as
soon as practicable after such second
Saturday, viz:
a) Mayor's Secretary and Pur

(d) Clerk of Council.

officers shall do and perform all
duties which are now required of
them, or which may from time to time
be imposed upon them by Council or
the Committee under whose jurisdic
tion they may become or be.
Section 5. That the following shall
be deemed employees of the City of
Augusta and shall be elected by
Council, to serve during the 'will of
Council, but subject to discharge by
a majority of the Committee under
whose jurisdiction either of them
may be. and to be elected on the se
cond Saturday in January of 1925, and
every three years thereafter or as
soon as practicable after such second
Saturday or may be elected at any
time for an unexpired term in case
of a vacancy, viz:

with ate hereby repealed.
