THE TRUTH ABOUT KIDNEY TROUBLE (SWELLING ANKLES) Swelling ankles or hands, or puffy eyelids, are'usually the first notices of dropsy, which. Is almost always defi nite evidence of Inflammation of the kidneys that has m ide considerable pror.rt »*. It >s usually In the chrome or supposed Incurable stage when si rst noticed. Thu Inflammation har closed the tu bules In the kidneys, and the heart pumplt * through !be obstruction lias Increased the blood pressure until the bln watery portions are forced through the vein* and drop down and settle In the hand* and fact, and in the eyelids at night. As the Books know nothing that will reduce kidney inflammation and open the tubults, there has been no successful treatment for dropsy, phy sicians usually attempting to pro long life by giving nltro-glycerine, dig italis. etc , etc , to sertiiglhen the heart. This treatment may momen tarily assist the patient, but I 1 has no deterrent effect on the develop ment of the Inflammation In tho kid ney tissue*, and the patient almost Inevitably suegumbs Hence dropsy ha» been ccnsldored tncurabiu. It can be readily appreciated that if Fulton's K»aa! Compound disperses inflammation In the Mdnevs that the tubule* wir open mi. the heart pres sure will decline with g-adual restora tion This Is oxaclly wnM happens, and nl.am.nation of t:i» kidneyk of tin most serlou* forms, involving dropsy, now yield to the Kenal Compound 'n about 87 per cent of ail cases with out reterence to whether It is in the first or second stage. In fact, this classification now practically disap pears in the presence of a real si eci lie for inflammation of the kidneys. Literature mailed free. JOHN J. The reason tor this is that every body in Augusta, more or lass, feeis that he or she has a grievance, and .hat there is nothing in the whole world that Is «*tirth smiling over. Now, ae all sensible people know, Fate loves to play her worst trioks on those who persistently frown, while ahe runs away in a terrftile I right from those who snap their flngera at her giily the while they say; "Do what you will, you cannot take the gold from out the sunshine, the song from the birds, Ihe per fume from the flowers and the joy in childish laughter. Do what you will, and I will smile, smile, smile for all the beauty of the universe, is mine, and mine the divine right to enjoy it.” This attitude ot assertive independ ence may seem ji*#t a little bit dif ficult to assumt, especially in the post freshet position in which we find ou' - telves, but it is something that nuo be learndd, sometMug to which we may attain with ever so little ef fort. Naturally, however, we must have a teacher or a guide, and where in Hie world is there to be found one so reliable, so altogether desirable as the man whose smile is brightening all Augußta today, the man who last night made hundreds laugh as he en acted the role of ‘Kid Burns in -U- Minutes frem Broadway?” Mr. Welch has found thaf smiling j pays. It pays him so well that with no trouble whatever he secured what is practically a star part in a ireinend ously successful musical comedy Every hour he finds fresh proof that it pays in ihe spontaneous applause ; and the bursting ripples of laughter that greet his every entrance on the stage He is an actor of ability, and he has done clever things and ex pects to do still cleverer ones in th ■ future, but he is chiefly remembered for his smiles. Theatre-goers who do not care es peciallv for George Cohan's work, and would not think of goini to one of hi* musical comedies that did no boast a Kid Burns" always go to see ihe pley that this one part has made immoital. simply because that won derful, that witching smile of Kid Burns” makes for such good cheer shedding a radiance in the light of which all things seem worth while. “You play the part so happily, said one to Mr. Welch—who let re mark in passing, smiles just as da /./. lingly in private life a* on the stagt 'That, one is forced to believe that yo “Of°coiirse I do.
