All of us are more than tired of
scraping mud off our furniture and
] making our conversation consist sole
:ly of our personal losses during the
j flood, conversation that is varied only
|by the remarks of the woman who
I tells us what an awful time she is
having with the painters and plumb
ers preparatory' to moving, the first
of October.
We hail with rapture, then, the real
opening of the theatrical season, the
beginning of what means the distrac
tions of social life. If we have the
theatre there will soon be dinner par
ties and luncheons and now and then
a game of bridge, all of which means
that there must be gownfs to be worn
at these functions.
Only a woman and one who has
money and who knows how to spend
it can realize the absolute rapture
attendant upon a call to replenish her
wardrobe. All that absorbed her be
fore this call was made becomes a
matter of no importance when she
once realizes that the hour for hats
and gowns has struck. With what
avidity does she turn to the task that
is so wholly a pleasure, and with
what, absorbed attention does she
read of where this, that or the other
thing may be had for her or for the
children.
What she will read today includes;
At the Andrews Bros.’ Company
Are to be found some of the new
est, freshest, altogether most attrac
tive ready-made gowns to be found in
Augusta, each one of which has been
personally selected by Miss Mahoney,
whose taste in this and other lines is
unimpeachable.
AT R. L. HUNTER’S
May be seen countless varieties of
those charming plaid-topped *socks
tnat both the boys and the girls are
wearing into the late winter, and that
are so very attractive when they are
chosen so as to match the color of
the little frock or the Russian blouse
suit.
At J. B. White & Co.’s
Are kimonas in the most fascinat
ing designs imaginable. The kimona
is a garment that is absolutely in
dlspensible when once the social sea
son has begun, for nothing else offers
such perfect ease from the restric
tions of the elaborate toilet. White
is showing kimonas in every material
and for every conceivable price.
At Burton-Taylor-Wise Co.
Ail the world of fashion knows that
i the new directoire gown is decidedly
incomplete without the much-talked-of
directoire sash. Exactly the correct
ribbon for making these sashes has
been especially imported by the Bur
ton-Taylor-Wise Co. in all the most
approved colors and designs.

other and better quarters.
It was decided that the library
would be moved to the building now
occupied by the Chelsea boarding
house, two doors below its present lo
cation. These rooms whe’n fixed up
will be in every way suitable for the
purpose.
The librarian is going to fix up a
room for the purpose of keeping gov
ernment books aud documents. Tho
library contains hundreds of these
books and as they are read from
time to time it will be a good idea to
have them m a certain place where
they are easily obtainable '"at any
time.
The meeting decided to leave the
moving to the librarian and presi
dent who are to make their report at
the next meeting of the directors.
