Hill, of the Police Depar; ment at his residence No. 228 Telfai Street Thursday morning at 5 o'clock in tile ti„,u year of his life. Mr. Hill was one of the best knowi. officers of the police force and held the respect of ail who knew him. Hi was also a member of Camp 435 V. C. V. The veterans will attend the iuneral In ablly. The funeral ser vices take place trom the resident:" Friday morning at 10 o'clock. Kev Richard Wilkinson will officiate. Mr. Hill was a non-commissioned offiticer in the Oglethorpe infauti) during the Civil War and while in that company, It served in throe Georgia Regiments; Ist, 12th and 63rd. regiments. Mr. Hill was sick for some tint, a few months ago. but he rallied and walked his beat Wednesday night uu tll 12, when he went to his home. He was taken sick about 3 o’clock Thursday and he passed away Thurs day morning at 5 o’clock. Death was due to heart failure. “Mr.' Hill had been on and off the police force for the iiast 28 years. He left the force when he married, but was elected to a position a few years later. He had been continuously on the force for the past 17 years. Mr. Hill leaves a wife and three step-children to mourn his loss, The interment occurs at the city cemetery. The following gentlemen are requested to act as pall-bearers: Honorary: Messrs. A. B. Saxon, M. C. Murphey, Geo. F. Lamback a. A. W. Clark Active, Lieut Hatcher. Sergt Wilson, Cobb and McArdle, Officers Kennedy and P. H. Morris. BOOSTERS CLUB DEFER MEETING ■ * Regular Gathering Sched uled For Friday Night Will Not Be Held Be cause of Members’ Ab sence. The regular meeting of the Boost ers' club, which was scheduled to be held Friday night, will not be held on account of the absence of several members, who will he at Valdosta in an effort to secure the Georgia and Florida railway shops for this city. file meeting will take place one week from Friday night and that time special preparations will be made to. have one of the largest meetings the history of the organization. The Boosters’ club was the only or ganization that came anywhere near doubling the assessment levied on then) for obtaining the Georgia and Florida railway shops and headquar ters for Augusta and they more than doubled their part of the required sum. OFFICERS BACK FROM COLUMBIA Judge Hammond and So licitor Reynolds Return From Court At Appling. Judge Henry C. Hammond and So licitor Joseph S. Reynolds, of the Au "nsta circuit, have returned from the ■tperlor court at Appling. In Colum bia county, where they have been holding eouG for the past three days. There were 65 cases before the grand Jury for consideration and they returned true hills lu about 30 of the cases. They were all convicted with out an exception. There are two murder cases and three cases of car robbing among them. Several entered pleas of guilty, but most of them were tried and con victed. No* Much.
