The house was owned by Mrs. Von Spreckon and occupied by Nellie Holmes, colored. About Hi-30 o’clock an alarm came in from box No. 51. The fire was a large house at 1110 and 1112 Tutnal street. The lire was caused by a detective flue. The damage was $35 The nouse was owned by Mow Charlotte Perdue. llox No. 46 was pulled about 1.20 o’clock. The fire was at Xu. 631- 633 Fenwick street amt the damage was $2.50. It was the property of Mr. Austin Branch and was occupied by Willie Coiiio, colored. WASHINGTON.— Marked Improve merit la shown by the movements of Internal commerce during the month of August, according to the report of the bureau of statistics of the depart tnent of commerce and labor which Is issued today. There is considerable heavier live stock movement com pared with the preceding monlhs of the year. An improvement Is also shown in the freight car situation, practically all the associations show Ing Increased traffic. Grain also shows heavier movements and coal and lumber are still other commodi ties which Indicate Improvement of conditions. • Taking the month of August as an Index, It will mean that a steady Im provement will continue until confll tlons are as good or even better tluiii they were 15 months ago.
