Fastest Ticket Seller In World
Is Now With Cole Bros . Circus
One of the most interesting sights
with a tented amusement enterprise
is to watch tho man at the ticket
wagon as he exchanges the paste
boards which rail for an admission
to the great realm beneath the canvas
f.nts tor the coin of the realm. With
Cole Brothers' World Toured shows
Is Mr. Fred Robinson,* who Is con
ceded to be the fastest ticket seller
in the business. Mr. Robinson has
daily handled the red ticket wagon
Ifor the past six years with Messrs.
Cole, and during that time his books
have shown but one error. Even
during his trip through Europe where
jhe handled currency with which he
was unfamMlar, he managed to make
correct change, and his accounts bai

The primary qualifications for a
ticket seller with an aggregation like
Cole Brothers Is lightning-like rapid
ity arid accuracy. He must be able
to work unceasingly, and his change
must be correct to the cent. A thing
j not generally known Is the fact that
j a ticket seller rarely, if ever, sees
'the faces of the purchasers before
him. He merely sells to the bands,
for in that way he Is able to work
with dlr.patch and obviate all tire
some waiting. He secures the money
from the hand of the purchaser, gives j
VENEZUELA PREPARED

Many Coast Defense Guits
Have Been Made Ready
For Any Emergency
CARACAS, (Tuesday, September
29.)- The revocation of the decree of
May 14 Is demanded In a most ener
getic manner. The government of
Venezuela must from this moment
and with out delay fulfill the protocol
of 1894 —and not prolong the Intoler
able state of affairs which it has
created by the decree of May 14.
These are the words of the Min
ister for Foreign Affairs of the Ne
therlands In his note of Angst 20
In which he answers Venezuela's
communication telling of the sum
mary dismissal of the Minister Da
Reus front Caracas.
Although Ihe Netherlands note
asks for an "Immediate' revocation,"
of the trans-shipment decree It has
been reported that a second note fixes
the date of November lßt as the
time when this must be done, thus
giving the note nature of an ultima
turn.

in exchange the tickets, keeping his
eye on the hand during the transac
tion, so that no error can possibly bo
made. Mr. Robinson has sold, made
change, and received cash fer 13,000
admissions in the short space of one
and one-half hours. At that time the
money was brushed into the wagon,
and paper as well as currency litter
ed the entire floor of the ticket
wagon.
Mr. Robinson gained an enviable
reputation while touring the conti
nent, and in six weeks made change
in as many different kinds of mon
ey. On the borderland of Germany
he met the obstacle of accepting two
kinds of currency from purchasers,
but at the close of the day’s work his
; accounts balanced. He is an adept
j at detecting counterfeit coins, and
at a glance has been known to re
ject paper money because It was
spurious. After the Baltimore fire he
was retained by the government offi
cials to detect fraudulent claims made
by unscrupulous people who returned
partly burned bills to have them ex
changed for those in good condition.
Cole Brothers’ World Toured shows 1
will visit Augusta on Friday, Oct. 23,
for two performances, at the Milledge
street grounds, and Treasurer Robin
son will be at his accustomed stand,,
In the red ticket wagon.

I Johnson, resigned. At present there
I Is only one candidate announced, 3)f?
