OF INTEREST TO WOMEN
Mrs. Barrett and Miss Barnes
Entertain At The Country Club
On Friday afternoon Mrs. William
H. Barrett aud Miss Barnes entertain
ed their friends at a bridge tea at
the Country Club which was one of
the most beautiful afternoon affairs
that could be imagined. Simple ele
gance marked every detail of the af
ternoon. Bridge guests were invited
for 3:30 o’clock and there were
twenty-four tables of players. Tea
guests came in at 6:30, and enjoyed
an hour of pleasure with social chat
and delicious refreshments.
It has been long since the spacious
ball of the Country Club boa present
ed so beautiful an appearance as II
did on Friday. Daffodils and violets
were the decorations which were com
bined with a moat artistic effect.
Graceful baskets of alf shapes filled
with growing daffodils were placed
about the ball, resting on the window ,
ledges, on the high mantel banked In
green and on stands and small tables. ;
The long lea table in the center was !
covered with an exquisite satin dam
ash cloth Inlet with deep bands of
duny lace. In the center was a tall
gilt basket filled with superb daffodils,
great golden cups of sunlight resting
on slender graceful stems. Topping
thPm was a huge yellow satin bow j
caught to the handle of the basket,
which looked like a gorgeous golden
butterfly (hat had alighted on the
giow'lng mass of blossoms. Smaller |
baskets were filled with fragrant vlo- j
lots, anti still others held crystallised
violets bonbons no less perfect.
Tht* cakes wore iced in golden duf-
Jodlls with green stems, while others !
■were done in violets so perfect that
they seemed as If a handful of loose
blossoms had been carelessly dropped '
on them. The handsome silver ser
vices at either end of the table were
presided over by Mrs. Igtwton Evans,
in a beautiful gown of white crepe ex
quisitely hand embroidered In white*,
and Mrs. Cecil Cochrane, who wore
a handsome gown of rose satin veiled
In brown chiffon and a picture hat
of brown velvet with plumes shading
from rose to brown.
Mrs. Barrett wore a beautiful lin
gerie gown of French embroidery,
mall and lace; Miss Barnes also wore
a very becoming lingerie gown elab
orately inlet with lace. Both carried
an armful of daffodils.
The score was kept on cards hand
painted daffodils.
The prize winners, who were pre-J
Rented with beautiful fancy baskets 1
of growing daffodils with big satin
bows, were Mrs. Henry H. Cummlng,
Mrs. Eugene Murpbey, Mrs. Rodney ,

as follows:
