NO LEI UP Fill LENT
AMONG MUNTINS
Leading Ministers Last Year
Galled Attention to Lack of
Observance and Same Condi
tions Are True Now.
Atlanta, Ga. —The beginning of l>ent
today recalls the statement made 1n
lient last year by leading Episcopal
preachers of Atlanta that their church
people and this community In general
seemed, for some strange reason, not
only not to observe the spirit of Lent
but to have more card parties, more
theater parties, more dances, more
gay festivities during this period than
at any other time of the yenr That
statement, It appears, will hold good
again this year, for at this very mo
ment Atlanta’s social session Is at
Its height; the newspapers are full
of bridge parties and other functions;
And the theaters are advertising for
the next forty days some of the big
gest, gayest, musical comedies and
other attractions they have presented
this year.
Lent begins, of course, forty days
before Easter, and falls, therefore ori
different dates because Easter comes
on the first Sunday after the i. st full
moon after the spring equinox, March
21st. Easter comes April IRth this
year. ~«*rit Is more strictly observed
by Cnlhollcs than by I’rotestants, and
Is supposed to be more strictly observ
ed oy Episcopalians and Lutherans
than by other Protestants. Even In
these, however, the exact observance
Is left to the dictates of the individual
conscience.

Being broken down In health, suf

advised by a friend to try Ur. Kilmer’s
Kwamp-Root which gave me instant re

I am now sound and well, and can

one suffering with back or kidney

I also had rheumatism, and I have

A sufficient trial will convince any

HE FAVORS RECIPROCITY
Jnmcs Wilson, secretary of agricul

Kinley, Roosevelt and Taft, who re
cently issued an appeal to American
farmers In favor of reciprocity with
Canada. Secretary Wilson declared
that both parties Interested would be
benefltted by its adoption; that the
agreement did not favor Canada, as
It Is believed by some; that the Im
porting of farm nnd other Canadian
products Into this country free of duty
would be of benefit to the consumer;
and then If the trenty became a law
In both countries, our relations with
Canada will become more Intimate and
