as Bob White Partridges, doves, wild
turkeys, gobblers, plovers, from De
cember first to March first, follow
ing; snipe, from December first to
May first, following; wocdtock or
summer or wood duck from Decem
ber first to January first., following;
deer, fox squirrels and gray squirrels,
from October first to January first,
following of each year. It shall be
unlawful any time of the year to
scatter upon the lands of any person,
whether it be the owner of the land
or not, any com, wheat or grain or
other bait for the purpose of drawing

scattered or placed, game birds or
doves, for the purpose of shooting or
allowing to be shot at, or killing such
game birds or doves at or near such
lands so baited, and it shall be un
lawful for any person to shoot at or
kill any dove or ether game bird at,
upon, over or near any land baited
or baited field or land, and for a vio
lation of this provisiou such person
or persons shall be guilty of a misde
meanor and punished as prescribed
in Section —— of Criminal Code.
The following deputy wardens have
been appointed: Foster Sherlock,
Wm. Sibley and W. W. Meyers. Mr.
Meyers is at Mcßean and the others
are located in Augusta. There are
three more deputies to be appointed.
Mr. Lanier says that he will have
the county well covered and all par
ties who violate the law will suffer
the consequences.

The Hephzibah Baptist Association
meets In Its 117th annual session next
Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday,
October 17, 18 and 19, with the Mount
Zto n Baptist church at Blythe, Ga.
There will be propably a dozen Bap
tist. ministers and laymen from Au
gusta who will attend. Mr. John
Phinizy, the treasurer of the associa
tion, will be among those who will go
from here. The session lasting three
days a considerable amount of busi
ness in the form of reports will be
taken up.

The present officers of the Heph
zibah Baptist Association are: James

In the association there are 60
churches and 7,426 church members.
There are also 46 Sunday schools and
3,008 Sunday school pupils. The Bap
tist churches of Augusta are all mem
bers of the Hephzibah Baptist As
sociation and it is one of ihe oldest
religious organizations of the South.
The contributions for one year from
the association reported at the last
annual meeting amounted to $37,-
185.38.
