The dissolute son of a thrifty father
who kills with hts car at dawn after a
night's debauch Is not the true type of
the motor car user. lie Is merely the
best advertised handicap on the growth
of a new factor in world progress.
Kven ten years ago who would lta\ n
foreseen what the auto would do? It
has put out of date the road Inventions
of Telford and Macadam, and set the
world once more building content high- 1
ways as solidly as the Humana. It has
revolutionised war equipment. It gm»s
where the railroad train cannot with
transport stores or hospital kit. The
Halkan general dashes to the front
from headquarters, twenty, forty mtles
away, not on horseback, hut In a tour
ing car. The city truck, the farmers'
market wagon, the pioneer's vehicle on
western plains, is of the new type; a
failure of the world's supply of gaso
line would now be doubly a calamity.
Perhaps not the railway Itself has
changed industry more radically than
the motor car is doing The ex posi

other cities show wonders accomp
