BACON IS MUCH
BETTER TODAY
Georgia Senator’s Fever Has
Subsided. Kidney Affection
Thought Responsible For Ill
ness.
Washington—Senator Bacon's condi
tion was said to be much Improved to
day. His temperaturo had fallen al
most to normal and the attending phy
sicians are hopeful that he will soon
be able to resume his duties in the
senate.
An affection of the kidneys Is believ
ed by the jihyslclans to be responsible
In large part for the high fever that
has kept Senator Bacon In bed for
nearly a week. This affection has
yielded to treatment, and the senator
temperature has subsided. The physi
cians, however, do not ascribe the
fever entirely to the kldhey affection,
and are not wholly satisfied that the
fractured rib Is not In part responsible.
The continued illness of Senator
Bacon has been the cause of genuine
regret In Washington, and his apart
ments have been deluged with flowers
that have been sent by friends. The
president sent on yesterday a magnifi
cent bouquet from the White House
gardens.
