The meeting* of the several lodge*
lasi week were well attended and very
encouraging to the officer* and the
committee.
Fountain City Dodge at their last
convention were very enthusiastic over
the future outlook and Initiated four
in the flr*t rank and they hope for h
much larger attendance Monday night,
at which time they will confer Ihe
second rank.
Tuesday night last Vigilant lodge.
No. 2, held a record-breaking meet
ing. The hall was crowded anil Ihe
best of feeling prevailed among all who
attended.* The second rank was con
ferred on two, and rest assured, from
the smile* of the face* of the Pyth
ian*. there was omething doing right
now. There w’ore present representa
tive* from several lodges adjacent to
Augusta hut quite a nice delegation
was over from (iranltevllle l-odge and
they seemed lo enjoy the meeting very
much.

to do. The officers are hoping for
the attendance to he an Improvement

Thursday night will lie the meeting
night of Woodlawn Ixalge, No. 62, and
these Pythian* know how to make
things pleasant for any or all who at
tend. They will also have rank work
nml expect Hn Improvement on the at
tendance. This lodge holds the record
for work done In the state and they
are proud of the record made. Alto
gether. Augusta has been leading the
state for several years and now, with
these laurels, they propose to go fur
ther and with the Uniform Rank fully
equipped with new uniforms, swords
and hells, they will make an effort
to he In the lead for prises In the drill
at Macon In May.' There are thirty
five men drilling regularly every week
and will nmke their first appearance In
new outfit on the evening of the Hold
en Jubilee parade. Invitations have
been sent olit all over this section of
the state of Georgia and South Caro
lina and from all accounts the at
tendance will he great.
The convention%>f the tenth district
lodges will be held tho afternoon of
the 19th, when reports will ho heart!
from the lodges as to the work done
now doing and to be done. The new
by-laws ore being discussed at the dif
ferent meetings and aro of much con
cern to all.
The time Is fast going—the Jubilee
time is fast approaching, and when
the day arrives it will see Augusta,
as always In everything, ready and
willing to make merry and happiness
will prevail.
The stockholders of the Pythian
Realty Company are urged to attend
a meeting Monday night at 7 o'clock
at Castle llall. to hear the report of
the year's work and to elect offi
cers.

Johnston, S. C.—Miss Maude John
son died Wednesday after a lingering
Illness from pellagra. Miss Johnson
was the eldest daughter of the lut«
,T. M. Johnson, who preceded her to
the grave about one year ago with
the same disease. She was Just about
twenty years of age prepared for life's
work that she might help to lift tne
burden of financial stress, but Go-1
tot |. her to live with mother and fath
er tn a home where there is no more
sorrow or trouble.
Her body was Interred at Phllltppl

King officiating. Two brothers ami
several sisters, with her step-mother
survive this sweet Christian girl.
Mrs. Hansford Rhoden, wife of Mr.
Hansford Rhoden and only daughter
of Mr. M. A. Clark, died here Wed
ntsday- of Typhoid fever. She was
hurled at Pl'llUppl cemetery. Rev. Or. j
