Great excitement was caused in
Jesup yesterday on account of the
r upmr that the railroad to Jack¬
sonville would Lo pushed through
to completion without delay. It
• stated that tools, supplies and
workmen will be sent here in the
next few days to begin work from
t!iis point. Everyone- is on the
qui-vive, though nothing authen¬
tic can yet be stated.
From indications the earth and
fence corners, garden spots and
potato i .ncl. js arc* going to be put
in cotton this year, Ami V it is
done, woe be cut the farmers next
fall, whan void mi sells at 5 cent a
pound. McKinley prosperity won't
he here then. but the land will be
fliledJJwRh sighs and groans and
lainentutions and tho blistering
mortgage will again he spead on
the farms and crops, But then
such is the waywardness of this
wicked and perverse, generation.
No amount of expense teaches ns
anything.—J/ariqtta. Journal.
