Grant Requisition Papers.
Governor W. T. Durbia, of Indiana,
In a lengthy communication addressed
to C overnor J. C. W. Beckham, of Ken
tucky, refuses to grant the requisition
for the extradition of ex-Governor
William S. Taylor and Charles W. Fin¬
ley, who have been Indicted by Ken¬
tucky courts for complicity in the mur
der of Governor William Goebel. The
claim is made that a fair trial cannot
be had.

Town of Jennings, Louisiana, Suffers
Heavily From Conflagration.
At an early hour Monday morning
Are broke out in a restaurant at Jen¬
nings, La. The wind was blowing a
heavy gale, and by 8 o’clock five blocks
of the main business part of the town
were in smoldering embers and ashes.
The heaviest Individual loser is A. D.
McFarlan, 170,000. The houses destroy¬
ed were not of a substantial character,
and the fire spread so quickly that
there was small chance to save any¬
thing. Loss, $180,000; insurance, $80,
000 .
