JESUP, GEORGIA.. JULY 7 1910,
Thor > is no calling, not even
the judges on the bench, that
mands more of judicial
than that of the newspaper
ing.
Now that Judge Hart has an¬
nounced for Governor in all prob¬
ability be will tender his tesign
ation to the Governor Jwhich will
bring into the political arena a
bunch of tentative candidates for
the attorney generalship. |Among
the aspiriants for the office is
Judge John W. Bennett of Way
cross who is being urged by His
friends to make the race in event
of the resignation of J udge Hart.
Mr. Bennett lias made a fine re¬
cord as an efficient officer, and
for years waa solicitor general
of the Brunswick, and is one of
the best lawyers in South Georgia
The campaign is on in Wayne.
The primary this summer will
come nearer, perhaps, to making
a true verdict of the feeling of
the peopie than any primary held
fora long time. While it is true
that many good citizens failed to
register, it must be admitted that
where such has been the case it
is largely their own fault.
The News among other papers
made strenuous appeals to the
people to register. Some citizens
think that the new change was
made to hold a late primary for
a fair ballot and purer iwfiitics but
one truth do stand out promin¬
ently that the bout this sum¬
mer befoic the primary will not
merely be a glove contest with
a lil tie sparring but a hot mix up.
For the Appalachian Exposi¬
tion, to be held in Knoxville,
September 12 to October 12, the
railroads of the southeastern ter¬
ritory have granted extremely
low rates which ensure the suc¬
cess of the enterprise, making
possible the attendence of thou¬
sands. The exposition being es¬
pecially designed for the states
of the Appalachian region, Ten¬
nessee, Virginia, West Virginia,
Month Carolina, South Carolina,
Georgia, Alabama, and Kentucky
there is sure to be a large patron¬
