The Singing Convention
'fhe Wayne County Singing
Convention convened here last
Saturday at the courthouse and
adjourned Sunday evening afier
the’mosf successful meeting in its
history. A conservative estmate
places the number o^f people
who came to witness the exercises
at}500. Col. Oscar Nail relivcr

short speech which was very ap

ities the convention settled
down to the'regular order, of the
program. The Little Creek

The State Election
On Wednesdsy, Oct 5, just
fourteen days from today the
state election will be held.
Chairman W. C. Wright has
sent out the form of the of
fteal ticket to the different county
chairmen. The democratic ex
eeutive committee in each county
must supply the tickets for that
countv. The ticket will be five
feet in length.

John Cameron Hill the three
months and eleven-day-old infant
of Mr. and Mrs. Norman Hil!
died at the home of his grand par¬
ents Mr. and Mrs. John Wilson
on Sept 14. His death is doubly
sad as only a short time ago the
mother Mrs. Vicke.y Wilson Hill
passed away. The bereaveo
father and relatives have the sym¬
pathy of the entire community.

for County purposes, Jesup, Ga
Sept. 6th, 1910.
It is hereby ordered that sixty
cents on the $1.00.00 of the tax¬
able property of said County
per digest of 1910 be, and
same is hereby levied, and
the same be collected by the tax
collector of said County for the
following purposes, to-vvit:
1st.
One Cent on the $100. to pay
the legal indebtedness due, or to
Income due during the year or
past due.
2nd.
Eight Cents on the $100. to
build or repair Courthouses, or
jails, bridges or ferries, or other
public improvements aecordinf to
contract.
3rd
Five Cents on the $100. to pay
Sheriffs, jailers, or other officers
fees, that they may be legally en¬
titled to out of the County.
4th
Two Cents on the $100. to pay
Coroncr3 fees that may be due
them by the County for holding
inquests.
5 th T
Ten Cent on the $100. to pay
the expenses of the County, for
Bailiffs at Court, non resident
witnesses in Criminal cases, ser¬
vant hire, stationery and the like.
6th
Ten Cents of the $100. to pay
diem compensation.
7th
Three Cents on the $100. to pay
expenses incurred in supporting
the poor of the County, and as
otherwise prescribed by the poli¬
tical Code of 1895
8th
Twenty Cents on the $100. for
rjad purposes, levied in com¬
pliance with the adopted Alterna¬
tive Road law.
Ore Cent on the $100. to pay
any other lawful charge against
the County.
Making in the aggregatethe said
sum of Sixty Cents on the $100.
on the taxable property of said
County, for County poroses for
year 1910.
