Editor. —Subscription Rates— One Year, $1; Six Months, 50c; Three Months, 25c. Entered at the Postoffice at Jesup Ga. as Second Class Matter. In connection with the offers which the News is and has been making for the purpose of getting more subscribers we wish to say that the articles advertised are given merely with this end in view. We do not gain anything by ' he transactions except a larger circulation and that at a cut on our regular subscription price. The 8-piece kitchen set, cut of which appears in another column, would cost about $3.00 at retail. We offer this set, together with a year’s subscription to the News for only $1.75 An inspection of these sets, which is gladly in¬ vited, will convince the most skeptical that this is no ‘‘gold bricli” scheme but an offer out of which you can get greater value than the amount of money ex¬ pended. We also offer a genuine Pearl Fountain pen, and the News one year for $1.75. This pen is ex actly as shown iri the cut of same on another page and alone is worth the entire amount. The News is the official news paper carrying regularly all legal advertising of Wayne county and as a medium of information on those important doings, should go to every home wivhin its 1,0 Grady ,, . , Literary .. Jesup has not debated the subject which was chosen, but we learn with regret, that Baxley debated this subject at their last commencement. The letter first written to Bax¬ ley specified this, that the subject should be on that neither of the schools had debated. And Bax lev was asked to suggest one, that they had not debated. They proraply suggested the for. going subject which as we said we have, since making the agreement, on good authority learned that Bax¬ ley u ed this subject at their last commencement and futhermore selected the same young men who debated this subject on that oc cassion to debate it against us in this debate. We will not break our agree¬ ment with Baxley, but are disap¬ pointed in learn;ng that they have taken this advantage over us. It is inoeed an advantage, for since they have debated the same sub ject on a previous oecassion. They are familiar with the points and argument which can be brought ©ut on either side, and have ing to do, now, but side and wait tiil we get there.
