Wednesday morning a‘young con

grace and beauty of the lady as well
as the youthful appearance of the gen

which started him to inquiring into
particn’ats in his usual, modest and
well known manner, which were not
long in developing themselves, as the
young man had already walked over
to the Ordinary’s office and returned in
company with Squire Cure ton ami the
mairiage license, and the editor had
just time enough to flatten his nose on
the window-pane to witness the cere

a single thought,” and two hearts we
hope that will never have a cause to
part.

Our popular railroad agent was
made tin* butt ot an undeserved joke
during the recent excitement over the
flood. Being bored by so many ques
tions as to how the water was, he
walked quietly to the bulletin hoard,
and the large crowd gathered around,
and almost breathlessly waited lor him
to write what they supposed would be
news of the flood. But instead, he
wrote in large letters, “I don’t know
anything.” The disappointment of
the crowd for a moment was so intense
von could have heard a pin drop, hut
some little urchin stepped forward and
quickly wrote beneath, “why didn’t
von wri»c something we didn’t know.”
Of course everyone “caught on,” and
such a laugh you never heard.
