Dade has never been visited by such
destructive rains as lias occured this
week. Lookout creek was several
inches tliglidi than ever known by the
oldest citizens. The creek bottoms
were literally Silvered with water,
making in some places lakes of con
siderable size. Fencing on every
farm along the creek have bbeii wash
ed away, and in some places forcing
people to move from their houses.
At places the soil has been Washed
away, and no little amount of oats
destroyed.
Even the little creeks running from the
mountains were flooded, and carried
fencing and everything before them.
The inilroads has suffered serious
damage from several streams.
Quite a lot ol meal and corn was
damaged at Sittons mill.
Morrisson ifc Gentry, lost three or
four hundred dollars in lumber ami
saw-stocks. Some of their lumbci
was washed away, while a good por
tion of it was badly damaged by the
waters leaving a sediment on it,
while a lot was lost bA other parties,

Cnfbton’s mill race anc fobav are

that it will be HVo weeks before it is

It is suggested tliftt court’s bolding

and in consequence, washed awrfy.
It is said t>y some that tbe creek

before. Of course, tile immensity ol

places i.iregular. Latfilft are badly
damaged, Wsshouts and saud banks
are numerous and of the most damag
