Rising Fawn was thrown into a lit tle fever «.f excitement last Tuesday evening, by a fciidoting affray between J M Miller anti ess wood, tho hotel keeper at that placce. Prof. Miller was boarding with and was going to his supper at the time. lie war, ascend ing tho stops whittling very vigorous ly a piece of wood, when Press wood, who r was standing at the top of the stairs, without ’a moments warning drew his pistol and fired, the shot tak ing effect in Miller’s right arm, with out seriously injuring it. Presswood, then made several rapid snaps, which, beyond little doubt, would have re sulted fatally, but pistol failed to re volve, in consequence did not fire. Miller stepped back behind the stair way, drew his pistol, approached Presswood and fired at him, but with out effect. At tiiHt lime friends inter ferod and stopped the difficulty.
