The Ball
••
The ball given at the Trenton opera
liouse Holiday night week wa’s a com
plete success and brilliant affair. It
must have went beyend what was an
ticipated by those directly interested
In short, as regards tiie crowd and
eompletness and execution of ail ar
rangments, it would have been credita -
ble to most any city.. Nothing occur-*
led to mar the harmony nor break the
How of enjoyment.
Those who composed the party were
from Rising Fawn, ChatfarioegrM|Bvidg
port, Trenton and vieink.y, and the
county is genera’. The next will be
given the latter part of this month, and
a much larger crowd is expected. Ad
ditional improvements are being made
to the hall preparatory to another occa
sion on a larger scale.
One amusing incident occurred about
10 or 11 o’colcck. A run-away couplej
from Alabama had arrived on the be
lated passenger, and were ushered into
the ball room by J. B. Williams, fol
lowed by ’Sqire Cureton, and (the
music and dancing ceasing), taking
their st rd in the middle ot the room,
as awkward and bewildered looking
couple as could be imagined, the knot
was tied so that their hearts could beat
all the way down the pathway of life
together without receiving any separ
ate scratches by the therns and briers.
