Entered into the yiostollice at Trenton, Ga as second-class matter. Delinquents pay up! And at once. Woolfolk didn’thang on thelGth. The Olivo bill should become a law and that at once. In attacking the Atlanta Jour ual Pat Calhoun bit off more than he could “chaw” in our opin ion. Instead of making it an offense to sell a minor cigarettes also make it a law fining hoys or men for smoking them. The editor of The Times has a way of speaking what he thinks regardless of the consequences, He does not pick his men either. Some men have not enough back-, bone to denounce a rapist. When it comes tp » mother beater they try and make some excuse for him. Our Texas and Arkansas subscribers are requested to pay up or their bills will be sent to an officer /or collection. L#* * Mr. Howren who is making tem perance speeches advertises as the reformed journalist. Ihe news paper men don’t need, ref arming and we are, glad that Brother How ren ,soeß not claim to belong to ..that.Qlas^. When a m.n who has been taken his county paper for years without paging for it and is requested to contribute what he owes gets mad and orders it discontinued but does not settle for it Hell is too cool a place for him. • _ The editors of the Cuthbert Lib eral and Enterprise and Appeal re spectively are carrying on a very warm controversy. Hold up Gunn Dont shoot the poor fellow so heav ily, h esides its rather warm for such work. Some vnen are born poor, others achieve poverty an<,l others thrust poverty upon other people.-e-Rdck. Our delinquents are thrust ing poverty upon us which leads us to believe that we weye homed to die poor. Gunn of the Cuthbert Liberals a man that is not afraid to let the public know where he ptands. His editorials have no ambiguous meaning. He is mak ing a gallant fight for better edu cation of the masses and the Olive bill. The Cuthbert Liberal is wrong when it wants the state road sold. It’s entire rental should be set aside for educating the children of the poor and if it is sold and ex tra tax will have to be Levied. Let the state releese it to the high est bidder. It is said that the Legislasure will not adjourn before October. The South Georgia me jp berg want all the boodle they can get. Tbe members from lower Georgia don't care a snap whether there is &ny business transacted or not as long as they get $4 a dav. Some of our Georgia exchanges are telling of some big snakes. The Fort Gaines advertiser has found one four feet long with 14 rattles. That’s nothing. It vou really want to see big snakes pay us a visit and we’ll show you snakes I hat are snakes. The siualL est, one that has been reported was seven feet long. it is said that Marshal Nelms has made application to 1 lie Re publican President lobe n a; point ed marsh J. He recently tired two H monrat -.and appointed two m-- gro Roohijeans in their place. It is the opinion of f*he editor of The Times that Nelms is not hurt very had with nomocracy. He is any thing for revenue. The Express isto he the name of a new paper to be published at. Car tersville by a stock company. It will make its appearance on the 22nd. ii— mm The TiM,ys is not under any ob ligations to the people of Trenton. When they want advertising done v>i job work they ?eod it oil'. When they sustain this paper it will work fc\r then interest and not before. TiiELegislature has been memori alized to pass a ten hour law — making ten hours a day’s work, by the cotton mill employes oi'Colum bus. The different presidents of the mills are fighting the bill. However since its introduction the signers of the petition have signed anoth er requesting the withdrawal. Ten hours should constitute a days la bor and the legislature should go on and pass such a bill regardless of petitions. My dear Governor:—l notice, in tlm papers that applications for a position on - the board of pardons that have not yet become a law, are arriving and desiring to hold a po litical office. I tender you the use of my name before it is too late. I am in favor of hanging all murder er, rapist, etc., if you want a man of that kind 1 Will he glad to re ceive the money for the office Or if you will say so J will change my position, i am far anything for the money. That’s all of my qualifications. Editor Of Times. Capt, A. C. Sneed of the A tint - ta Itifies has resigned. The pa pet was transmitted to Gov. Gordon Saturday. Atlanta August 0.-=*Senator All, good this morning made the senate prick up its ears by the introduc tion of a hill declaring it a misde meanor tor any person to get drunk only on his own premises. The bill makes the first offense punishable by a fine of from five to ten dollars, or imprisonment for from five to ten days; the second by a fine of from ten to twenty dollars, or imprisonment for a cor responding number of days. But should a man be so outrag eous or forgetful as to get drunk a third time and fail to remain on his own trash piie, the senator pro poses to fine him twenty five dol lars, or imprison him for one full month.
