A TRIP TO CEDARTOWN.
In company with Mr. W. A.
Bm%e visited Cedartown last
Monday and Tuesday:. We arrived
there about noon, and soon repair

W. Golightly, where, we had a
sumptous repast Mr. 4. has a|
store of general graceries, and he
meets his customers with a gentle
smile. After dinner we had the
pleasure of meeting Mr. R. H.
IWhocler, of the fivit of Allen,
Wheeler & Ce:; who séenied to
take a great pleasure in showing us
the town:
We first went to the depot of the
C‘hcmkc’d railroad, and found that

We next went to the conviet
camp, which seems to be managed
Very nicely. There we saw the re
gults of the late freshet. The water
wits from five to six feet deep in
mogt all the camp. We then took

shops of Mr. A. G. West. This mill

ny surrounding county; and every
thing edriniected with the mill and

atically arranged. The Cherokee

but we failed to see everything in
operation, as they wére repairing
some parts of the furnace.

MASSACRED BY UTES,
DeNvER, April 25.—Johnson,
who was present at the recent bat
tle between the Navajoes and whites
at Mitchell’s place, on the lower
Sa Juan river, in Southern Colera
do; arrived at Durango to-day.—
Johnson says: “Williamt Grove,
Victot Neff and I arrived ut Mitch.

ther’s little boy, all playing in a house at

munity is greatly extited over a hornble
affair that occurred near Wallace’s mill
about three miles of this place last Mon

that Miss Mary Cash, diughter bf Mrs.
Naney Cash, a widow livilg (néar Wal
lace’s, wiig abdut to BE confined, and
that her muthet drovt het from the
house, and that aftel an absence of a few
hours she réturiied and weiit to bed. The
