We netice some few business establishments (\liere. The Masonic brathren of Buch | anan are needing a hall very much. Some enterprising gentleman should build a holise and arrange a hall above. : Felton presents q'uite a lively appearance these days. Quite a number of new houses are geing up. New mills for lumber and shingles are being put down ecca sionally. The Buchanap Lumber Compa nv has shipped the broken part of theiwr plaver back te the foundry for repairs. Tne Company has many thousand M“ of lumber on THETT VIXT. . P deg oo o o 1t is given-up that old Haralson is the appie region inthe south. And so it :is. Our people should enlarge their orehords, for the de mand for the fruit is growing larg er every year. The woods wil soon be green, Pic-nics will soon be in the fash -lon and the girl of just “sweet six teen” will be happy; also the yonng man of the same age will be as near heaven as he wants to be. Tae woodman is not sparing the virgin forest. Heie the saw mill is making in roads, and the farmer is clearing a farm, and 80 it goes. We heard a gentlemau say the other day that he never saw as much Im provement going on in one county as in Haralson. » An atterney at law, not living a thousand miles trom Buchanan, left a mortgage with the clerk of the Buperior ¢ourt that a portion of it read as follows: “I hereby mortgage one brindle calf with an underbit in its left twelve months.” The hanorable clerk is anxious to fully understand this matier., A gvld and iron prospector was in the civy last week and he.informn ad the waiter that he-had not seen ncountry that had better minerai indications thaufthat surrounding Buchanan, He said that gold in paying qunautities could be obtain ad negr Buehanan: The gentleman ‘also said.tnat there was wore min erz]l around Buchanan than any town he kuew ot excepting Cedar town. The propertv just east of town is very valuable and t% anly, ‘access Yo it 15 via the depot. and the street s,outh.‘,o&che iall. Can’t some steps be taken to have the street OEen and let our land com pany take charge of the land and have 1t sold out. What say you, dear fathers, of Bychapan !, J We need small manufacturing enterprises. They would build up Buchanan faster than anything else. Let us have a sash, door and blind factory, an axe and pick han die factory, a broom factory and to.on. It would mmake Buchanan a market for all country produce and bring many workmen to town who would spend all their money with us. It will not de tor a town to de ‘pend entirely on the merchantilej interest to build it up. Let Buch- Innmx and Haralson zounty people stait these enterprises, Such xur mers as (zeo. Buch anan has two small schools; taught by extra fine teachers, but the plan sugeested above, unite both of ‘these gentlemen in the same house wour]d be much better tor the town. [f this don’t suit you, don't read it A fellow came into the BaANNER office the other day and sxidihe did not know, what was the matter with it of late. W Fitts informs us that ‘the peopla are buying veryheavily ot grasses. this season: Ihikig a good sign. Just a few vears sinca very little graszes were sown in this county, now every firmier has a good patch and is preparing to make it Jarger.
