The North Georgia Conference of the
Methodist church, is in session at Cedar

G. M. Roberts wants five car loads of
stock peas at 90 cents per bushel in trade,
or will give a liberal price cash.
Mr. Jay Hesterly has killed five hawks
and one owl this year. Jay plays havoe
with these pests when he gets a chance.
We are requested to say that there
will be a debating society organized at
the Court house to-night. All are cordial
ly invited to attend.
Uncle Abby Wilson has been very fee
ble for the past two weeks, but is some
better at this writing. We hope he will
soon be restored to his wonted health.
We dislike to put our customers to
trouble and expense, but will be forced
to do so, if their notes and accoun.s are
not paid at once.

Mr. J. Z. Craven was elected City Mar
shal of Buchanan last Monday. Zach
makes a good marshal; this being the
second time that he has been elected to
this honorable position.
Mr. Horatio Williams kissed two hogs
last week, that weighed two hundred
poands each. This speaks well for an
energetic citizen of Haralson, and shows
that he don’t have his smoke-house in
Chicago.
Mz, Sam Cole, who lives in the 7th dis
trict, had a sale last Tuesday for the
puarpese of moving to Alabama. Several
of our citizens attended, and they report
everything thas was sold brought a good
price.
Rev. Edward Beadles, while
spending a few days in Buchanan
last week, preached two very in
teresting sermons. We are always
glad to have such men visit our
towmn. : :

trees of different variety have
been delivered to our citizens. We
are glad to see progress in this
line. No section of thestate is bet
ter adapted to fruit than Haralson
county, and proper effort in this
direction alone wounld in a few
years make our people the most
independent people on earth,

Mr. D. B. Head moved his fam

Mr. John Dennis, who was ar
rested by a revenue officer last
week and carried to Atlanta, has
made boud and is at home again.
The little folks had a party at
the residence of Mr. Jacob Hearn,
last Monday night. Our reporter
says he never saw little fellows
enjoy themselves as well on such
an occasion.
Dr. A. J. Toppings is a dentist of ahout
sixteen years’ practice. Has located here
to practice in Buchanan, Kramer and
Waco. Call and see him. Satisfaction

Col. T. A. Frierson, of Chatta
nooga, spent a couple of days in
Buchanan this week making prep
arations for the land sale here
next Tuesday and Wednesday.—

Mr. Hall, of the firm of Hall &

anan this week.
An interesting thanksgiving
service was held at the court house
yesterday morning.
The citizens of Buchanan and
surrounding country are requested
to meet at the court honse Satui
day night (to-morrow night) to
take into consideration the build
ing of a school house. A good
lot has already been donated, and
the house must be built. Let
everybody come out to the meet
ing to-morrow night.

der of the Board of Kducation, Haral
son county will be divided into sub
‘school districts as required by section 20
of the school law. This division will be
imnde daring the year 1890; reference
being had to school houses already built,
and in each district where there is not a
good school house, there must be one
