H. D. Lasseter, our clever tax réceiver,
has completed bis roundsup to May 10th.
He will be in Buchanan on June Brd and
4th and Tallapoosa sth and 6th. Mr.
Lasseter says'that the people have met

Mr. W. M. Shell, our clevex

loosing a fine horse last Saturday.
Mr. Shell went to feed his horse

sick. She continued to grow worse
until late Saturday evening when
che died. A good horse is worth

A Good Citizen Dead,
Mr. J. M. Adamson, died at his
home in Waco last Saturday morn
ing after a long illness. Mr. Ad
amson’s health failed last winter
and he was counfined to his bed
for several month befove his death.
His health was thought to be bet
ter a week or two ago, but chang
ed for the worse.
- Mr. Adamson was one of Waco's
imost promsnent men, being a
‘merchant and then depot agent.
He was loved and 'respected by
all who knew him. He was buried
with Masonic honors in Bowdon
last Sunday. We exteud our Sym
pathy to the bereaved family in

Eugine No. 4 collided with a
freight car at this place Wednes
day. A freight train was stand
ing on the main line and a flag
| man was sent out to flag down the
north bound passenger train. The
switeh had been changed in order
for the passenger to side track. It
being down grade and the track
wet, the engineer could not stop
his train. e applied his breaks
and reversed his engine but failed
to stop until he hit the car. The
front of the engine was knocked
in and a pair of trucks knocked
from under the freight car. En
ginecer Wheeler hustied around
and weatherboaded up the front
of his engine and Capt. Dave Mec

The farmes are working lively.
The frost killed a great deal of

the farmers have a stand left.
Mr. Joel Miller of Carrollton was
here Wednesday.
J P. Boatright’s hotel is being
rebuilt rapidly. :
Mrs. Jesse Sanders, living three
and one-half miles from town, has
been very low with dropsey.
Mr. Andrew Shelnutt’s children
have all been sick with fever, but|
are improving slowly,
