BUCHANAN, GEORGIA,. FRIDAY JULY, 25. 1890.
Obituary, =
Qur darling boy is gone, but
not lost. Little Charles Ernest
Griffith, son of John W. and Fan-|
nie C. Griffith, died at the home
‘of his parents in Temple, Ga., on
the night of June 26th 1890.
Our dear child has gome to that
Eternal home, that we all hope to
reach when we are done with this
world. of sorrow and care. He was
the last one of five members of the
family to have measles, and when
we know that Pnenmonia was com
plicated with measles, we had but
little hope of his recovery, yet at
one time our hope somewhat re
vived but its duration was short.
It has pleased God in his infinite
wisdom to call the dear one from
us to a home“‘in the beautiful
hereafter.”” we had loved Charlie
three years six months and twen
ty three .days, but now we can
think of him only, as one whose
stay with us was short and
sweet and one whose life in this
world is forever ended, but we
love to think of him as one of our
-own dear children, who rests “in
the sweet by and by.”
The faithful Dr,Brooks.did ev
ery thing that he could to . relieve
him, but evrey effort scemed to be
fraitless.
- And when the end came he
passed away almost as quietly and
pleasently as we had often seen
him go to sleep,
We had prayed that if it was
the Lords will to take him from us
that he might pass over the river
easily, and in that, we feel that
enr prayers were answerd.
We buired him in Bethel church
yard. Our “pastor Rev, A. J.
Coalson officiated at the funeral
seivice offering in the conclusion
of. the services the most ernest
petition for the father and moth
er grand father and grand mother
and other relatives of Little Char
lie, that we have ever been per
mitted to hear.
The Savior has said, suffer lit
tle children to come unto me and
forbid them not for of such is the
kingdom .of Heaven,. and -as
David has said: ‘‘he cannot come
to us but we.can go to Him.”
May we meet him with all the Re
deemed of god, around the Throne
!of God in Heaven, is gur sincere

* Mssrs, Eorrors: The subjoind eertifi
cates are published for the benefit of all
who may have seen tfio‘flmmle Ledg
er, issued Week before last. Thave not
seen it my self, but am informed that it
contained a cartoon of Hon. R, W, RBve- l
rett. in an ox cart en rombe (as Majors
represented it) to Antioch ehurch, ‘
Now as for myself I fail o see any
thing criminating in Jhe ack of any 'one
going to chureh in an ox eart, or any
other way he might see praper, or wish
to go. Knowing R. W, Everett as 1 do,
I am constrained to think that he is one
of a few mea in this eounfry who would
attend his church, or any where elee,
with & “‘muly bull’” and an gx cart if be
so desird and saw proper. Bat as it hap
pens in this instance Mr, Bveret is more
fortunately situgted and has no need to
attend chareh behind a muly bull and an
ox cart, andsl see no reason why the un
scupulous liar and ciroulator of such a
report should stoop to sudh%w and mean
methods unless he hoped to do Mr. Eve
rett the grievous injustice 4 im press, if
possible, upon the minds ot those who
happgned not to know Bvezett personally
that it was an evidence of pandering for
the popular vote of those unfortunate
people who are poor and have no other
means of attending Divine Worship, than
with a bull and ox eart. While Mr. Ev
erett is today the modern fßrmer of Polk
|'county, and perhaps is in the best condi
tion of any faymer in Polk still he will
never forget the fact that he made what
he has by following the plow share in
person and not in profession. He knows
the practical meaning of'thut passage’ of
serpture which says that *‘in the sweat of
man’s face shall he eat bread,” and yet
with all his more fortunate circumstances
now, he has not fotgotten, nor will he
ever eease to love and svmpathize with
the-poor, 'Mr. Everett wortld not saeri
<fice any conviction of his own, or any
principle of right to pandey to the whole
people of Georgia for purs&fal populari
ty, to say nothing of a few.~
. Here is the Proof,
To show the utter falseity of sueh pet
ty and contemtible slanders 1 herewith
append the certificates of Rev, J. S. Rey
nolds, the pastor of Antioe chureh, which
tells the story of Everett's vindication:
KexnEsAw, Cobb county. Ga., July 14,
This is to ceptify that I spent the eve
ning of the 81st May last with R. W. Ev
erett at his farm in Polk county, and en
joyed his hospitalities that night and
went to Antioc church the next day, it
being my regular appointment as pastor
of the Baptist church at Antioe, to-wit:
the first Sunday in June, Mr. Everett and
family attended church on that day in a
two-horse buggy, and 1 rode with him :
and family in the buggy. The report
being circulated that Mr. Everitt and
family attended church on said Ist Sun
day in June in an ox wagon.is unfound
ed and’ untrue, no matter from what
source it eminated, I have been serving
Antioch church asg pastor for over 18
months and if Mr. Everitt ever attended
that chureh or any other church at the
time 'designated or any other time in
an ox wagon I have no knowledge of it.
J. S. ReynxoLps, Pastor.
AND HERE'S A CLINCHER.
+ A report has 'been eirculated over this
county that the son of Mr. Rube Wright'
had instigated the rumor about 'this
affair, and My. Wright forever sets at
rest the authenticity of this ridiculous
accusation, by his certificate below;
To Tue Pusric:—Upon investigation
I find my boy to be mistaken in regard to
er. BEyerettand wife going to ehurch at
Antioch on first Sunday in June or any
time in an wagon, .

} Antioch, July 14, WRIGHT,
~ This togeather with the certificates
publighed last week, will saflice, I hope
to show the good Demoerats of thejgrand
old Sevanth whoisin line with truth’ and
principle, as well a 8 who is gbove alllow -
down, dirty and rascally tricks. Who
would believe now any thing that the
Adairsville Ledger would publish? In the
name of reason, who could? Ihave nev
er sgep but one copy of it, and looking
‘over town for one yesterday, but they
tell me it didn’t print last week.
' What: was the matter? Has Majors,
‘the Napoleonie finaneier (?), hit the ceik,
ing again? It has been suggested to me
that perhaps Majors, after your corres
pondents’s publication of last week, has.
been gtraddled by some hungry creditor,
and possibly hasn't paper enough left
to go to press. There is something
wrong sure, for it is either tied up and
didn’t get out last week, or Tom has lied
again about that 100 subscyibers he says
he secured by one mail from Polk coun
ty On thing sare, I can’t find a single
copy of his paper. Hadn’t the Alliance
brethren better help him out aud keep
his little sheet in circulation? It’s a good
campaign doeument for Everett,

Hot Springr. :
Have. yan ever visited Hot:
Springs? Alas! You meet while
there so many instances of terrible
blood poison, evidenced by disfig
urement of faee, and fotm.
HitLer, rush sufferers from scuol
ula, syphilis, eczema. salt rheu 1,
ulcers, blemished skin, twisted:
and aching joints, limbs made
crooked by rheumatism, ete.,etc,
Some fiind relief, some donot and
come a wry poor in purse and
grieviously disappointed. It costs
money to visit and sojourn at
Hot Springs. The experiment of
going there cannot be indulged in
without considerable expense.
How thankful then should every
one be to know t here is a remedy
even more beneficial in case of
blood poison than Hot Springs.
We refer to Botanic Blood Balm
(B B B)as to its merits thousand
will testify. :
Z.T. Hollerton, Macon, Ga.,
writes: ‘[ contracted blood peison.

Jas. L. Bosworth, Atlanta, Ga.,
says: “Some years ago I had no
appetite my dijestion was rufned,
rheumatism drew up my limbs, so
I could hardly walk, my throat
whas cauterized five times. Hot
Springs gave me no benefit and
my-life was one of torture until I
I gave B B B a trial, and surpris

bottles cured me.”
