It is with sorrow we chromicle
the death of Mr. Wm, L. Kelley
who died last ‘Saturday and was
buried Monday i Pineywoods
cemetery, Mr. Kelly was one of
Haralson's oldest and best citizens
aud while we mourn his loss we
extend to the bereaved family our
deepest sympathy . \
Rev. Chas. Talliaferro preached
here Saturday and Sunday. He
Las been pastor of the Baptist
church for some months, but
preached his farewell sermon Sun
day. The church has called
Rev. A. J. Coalson, of Temple, to
preach for them the ensuing
year,
We learn that Mr. M. Y. Dar
nell, our duputy sheriff, recently
captured some boys who were wan
ted over in Alabama for crimes
committed 1 that state. Mr. Dar
nell says that the bLoys acknowl
edged to stealing some horses,
irobbing the mail and killing a ne
gro about a year ago. They also
say that they haveseveral in their
gang and have been stealing and
robbing for twe years.

Education endorses him. Boards
of other counties have followed
the example thus set.
At a meeting of the Connty
Board of Education of Jefferson
county, held in ILouisville, Ga.,
May 6th, 1390, the following res
olutions - were adopted by that
Board:
““Resolved, That while we have
no complaint against HonJ. Hook
as S. S. Commissioner, but our as
sociation with him has been uni
formly pleasant, yet we would
prefer Mr. Edgar H. Orr in that
office.
Ist. Ashaving had long expe
rience and familiarity with the
varied duties of the office in con
nection with his honored father.
2nd. As being himself a practi
cal teacher, familiar with all
the improved methods, and there
fore in symathy with the great
work from his youth. We there
fore as the County Board vevy res
pectfully urge his appointment
to that office at the next term.”’
