M Roberts went up to Chattanooga last Saturday, re turning Sunday. A goodly number of our people attended the association at Cor rinth last Sunday. : Woman sufferage will be deba ted at the Literary society next Wednesday night. The cotton fields are getting very white and cotfon pickers will soon be in great demand. Col. S. 1.. Craver and fami'y are visiting relatives and friends at Crossplains, Ala., this week. Miss Jessie Beall who has been attending school at this place re. turned to her home at Embry: last week. - Mr. W. L. Crowley, who has lived in Buachanan since last spring, moved to Felton last Mon day. : Prof. Heury Shell, of near Se noia, spent a few days with his brother, Mr. W. M. Shell, ¢f this place last week. Dr. W. F. Robertson and family of Attalla, Ala., have been visi ting their many friends in Buch anan, for several days. Crops in the vacinity of Buch avan are almost as good as the land will make them. They were damaged very little by drouth. A multitude of people attended the association at Corinth Sunday. The crowd was ronghly estimated at from one tothree thousand peo ]_‘_vle. Messrs. W. J. Head of this place and J. L. Head of Carrollton who have been up in Tennessee for some time introducing the Ford and Revell live rollers retnrned last Monday. Miss Lizzie Anthony, our assist ‘unt school teacher, lett for her ‘home at Cave Springs last Mon day. Miss Lizzie has many friends in Buchanan who regret ted to see her leave. Elders J. C. Coalson and M. F. Waddell will commence a series of meetings at the Baptist church to-morrow. We feel assured that you will be interssted if yon will come ont and hear them. Rev. T. J. Biggers, of Drake ltown, is erecting a nice dwelling on Depot street near T. W. Grif fith’s residence, Our eflicient clerk, Mr. J. S. M, Biggers, will move into the building at once. The July adjourned term of Haralson Superior court was held at the court house last Monday. Considerable business was trans acted but for want of space we cannot give the proceedings this‘ week. . F. Garner, living in the 20th district, had the misfortnne to get his leg bro ken last week. Mr. Garner was riding on a wagon and his mule started to run away with him and he jumped from the wagon break ing his leg just below the keen.
