LOCAL HAPPENINGS.
Fruit Ttees Bloom. —The
early fruit tree blossom is abroad
in the land and already he honey
bee is whetting his stinger and
oiling his wing joints for the
season’s operations.
Evergreen Oaks. —The water
oak trees about Rome are in many
cases wearing a few green leaves
of the vintage of ’97. This speaks
volumes fcr the mild winter
through which we have just pos
sed.
Dance Last Night. In the pavil
lion of the Armstrong Hotel those
taking part in the Opera Zalenato
be produced here next week, en
gaged a very pleasant dance.
About fifty couples were in at
tendace and the merry making
was kept up until a late hour.
No Service. —There will be no
Services today at the second
Presbyterian church in the Fifth
ward. The Rev. Hay Warson
Sm th who was to have preached
at the eleven o’clock morning
service, has been sick for the past
few days and and will be unable
to fulfil the engagement. Sunday
school at the usua 1 hour.
Hunting Season Over.—For
a season the hunters must lay
aside their guns as the reason is
over. The law protecting the game
of this section goes into affect
with tomorrow, The finny tribe
abounds in all of Floyds streams
ana to the Rod and line the
sportsman must now turn his
attraction.
A Busy Day.--The streets and
shops of Rome were alive with
country people yesterday. The
warm weather tells then that
spring is near and that winter
clothes are gettirg oppressive.
Every body is buying and nine
tenths of 'he farmers are paying
cash fcr what they get. This is
the best evidence of prosperity.
On the morning of Feb. 20,
1895, I was sick with rheuma
tism, and 1 lay in bed until May
21st, when I got a bottle of
Chamberlain’s Pain Balm. The
first application of it relieved me
almost entirely frem the pain
and the second afforded com
plete relief. Ina short time I
was able to be up and about
again.—A. T. Moreaux, Luv
erne, Minn. Sold by all drug
