Poor Stein, of the ncitoricus
looking Glass, lias a hard time of
it, From time hit* checkered past is
aired in the petty Courts, persons
whose records he has assailed
through the columns of this paper
heat and mangle him unmerci
fully while thepub'.ic looks on and
unfeelingly remarks that he is re
ceiving no more than he deserves.
It cun be said of Stein, however,
that he is always game, and th»
spilling of his blood dosen’t crush
his spirit or prevent him from
speaking his mind through the
colums of his Looking Glass.
Stein is probably like the average
theatrical star: notoriety causes
him to be talked about and puts
money in his purs'-. What does a
(scalp amount to as long as the
money c mes freely?—Albany

Sum Jones has met his match
at repartee at las'. He has been
indulging in some caustic critic
ism of Governor Taylor, of Ten

pardoning power. To which Gov

How The Campaign Looks To An
Outsider .
Mr G. 11: Hutchins, of Talln
poosa . a candidate for congress ii
the seventh, district, was at th<
Kimball. The seventh is promis
ed n spirited race this year. Judge
J. W. Maddox, the present con
gressman, will be a candidate t< r
re-election, and there is talk of
four or five other candidates. Mr.
Hutchins is in the race. Colonel
Wait Harris, of Cartersville, talk
ed of, but he has not declared hie
intention of running. An an
nouncement Jirom him would not
siiprise the democrats of the sev
enth. He was solicitor general of
the Cherokee circu t for tuht
years and has astrong so lowing.
Then there is Frank Irwin, of
Polk, who is said to be as good as
in the race Colonel Glenn, of Wal
ker county is a probable candidate
and his friends are urging him
strongly to enter. So the chances
are tha' th**re will be a lively cam
paign for the nomination.—
