Board Os Trade —The Board of Trade will hold an important meeting at their rooms in the Armstrong tonight at 8 o’cl?ck Salvation Army.—The Sal vation Army will conduct their meetings in a large tent on 1 fourth avenue in the future. Bachelors Club Germ an.— This evening at 8 o’clock, Mrs. J. Lin dsey Johnson, will give a german, complimentry to the Bachelor's Club, at her boautifui home in East Roma. Methodist Church —Rev. J. 11. Eakes preached at the First Methodist church last evening. His subject wat taken from the 24th Psalm, 3to 4 verses. He preached a beautiful and force ful sermon. The church was crowded. First Presbyterian Church, — There wi i not be services at the Presbyterian church tomorrow afternoon on account of the spec ial services at the Methodist church. The congregation is re quested to worship at the Meth odist church at that hour. Visited RuMe. —Among the Masons here who went to Rome last Tuesday to attend the big Ma sonic conference, were Messrs. R. D. Jones, Wesley Shropshire, N. K, Bittiing, S. C Martin, E. N. Martin. W. B. Hollis, T, H. Tay lor, J. J. Arrington, Dr. B.own, B. 11. Edmundson, J. S. Odell, C. C. Godwin and Deleos Mailcoat. Wedding In Chattanooga Next Tuesday evening at the bride’s residence in Chattanooga, Mr J. W Smith, and Miss Ruth Haywood will be married. Miss Haywood is quite well known in Rome having visited here last summer the guest of Mrs J. A. Glover, in the 4th ward. The wed ding will be a quiet, home affair and only a few friends will be present. Rome Light Guards —The Rome Light Guards will hold a meeting at their armory tonight for the purpose of putting raw recruits through ’he “setting up exercises This command stood a rattling good inspection by Major Almand last night. Lieut. Walter Perkins, in the absence of Capt Patton, hand ing his men like a veteran cc.tnmnnd< r. DEATH OF MRS. BURNEY. Dr. Headden Left For Social Circle Today. The announcement of the un timely death of Mrs. Al. S. .Burney will carry sorrow into the hearts of all Romans who knew her. Mrs. Burney died last night in Ashville, N. C., she having gone there a few months ago hoping to regain her lost health. Surrounded by a devoted bus band and three small children the end of her suffering came last night. Dr. Headden, pastor of the First Baptist church of Rome, left today for Social Circle, the girlhood home of Mrs. Burney and the funeral will occur there tomorrow and will be conducted by Dr. Headden. Mrs Burney was a Miss New ton of Social Circle, when she married Mr. Al Burney of this city. During her brief but hap py life in this city she made many warm friends, who today mourn her death. Two Popular Young Roman’s Join Hands And Heart- Yesterday afternoon at 5:30 o’clock, Mr. John H Edison and Miss Josie Coulter w«re united in the holy bonds of matrimony They purchased a buggy in Rome and drove to the residence of Rev. C. VV. Fox, in Cave Spring, where he pei formed the ceremony. Messrs, Paul Culberson, and Will Parks, were the only witnesses to the marriage, The wedding was quite a suprise to t' eir many friends in Rome. Mr. Ellison is employoyed at the scale works and is weP known in Rome. Miss Coulter is a talenttd young lady and is correspond ent for a number of large pa pers and exceedingly popular, ALDERMAN DENNY RETURNS Col.
