WE ARE GOING OUT! - -
We Are Going to Quit the Retail Dry Good s Busin ts sb Rome.
Since this announcement went out it has been claimed that we published such a purpose on a former occa
sion. Not true. We never said before we were going out of business; we never said anything like it. We
say we shall get oat of this business as soon as possible. Will you help us out if we pay you well for the help?
The help will be mutual. We’ll make prices lower than ever was writ en about, talked about or enjoyed in this
part of the moral vineyard. Come at once. We will sell goods at less than 3° cents on the dollar. Nothing in the
house above cost except Butterick’s patterns and contract corsets, which we are unable to control, everything
else shall go for what it will bring, nothing above cost.
Millinery usually affrords 50 per cent nrofit. We'll now give worth $1 at 39c; those worth 50c to go at 29c, those worth

“Oui John” was nominated
at Cedartown today to succeed
nimsalf in Congress.

♦
This is as it should be. John
W. Maddox is a man of the peo
ple. Ilis every pulse beat is in
unison with the heart throbs
of the masses. From a lad of
17, following Lee and using a
musket, he has won his way,
step by step, in the confidences
of the people until today he
stands securely entrenched.
*
¥ ¥
John W. Maddox is my sort
of a man. He is loyal to the
right and true to every trust del
egated to him by his people and
his country.
*
¥ ¥
Without quitting his post of
duty, trusting implicitly in that
spirit of fair play that he knows
his people to be endowed with,
he was assaulted throughout
the district by an aggressive op
ponent who is gifted and bril
liant.
. ***
The result, however, is as it
should be, a complete and over
whelming victory for the brave
man who dared risk his own
personal success rather than
quit his post of duty.
*
¥ ¥
John W. Maddox is one of the
ablest men in Congress. He is
peculiarly fitted for the office
and, so far as I am concerned,
he will remain the representa
tive of the Seventh congression
al district of Georgia until Geor
giana call him home to serve
then as govt rnor.

For this, and for no other

remainder of the summer. Un
der these circumstances she has
thrown on the market the most
desirable millinery bargains to
be had in Rome. A word to the
