Shropshire, will leave tomorrow

Co., for all next week, at the '
park pavilion, but owing to the
accident at the power house the
cars will not be running until
the middle of next week. The
company will play at Nevin's
opera house until the machinery
can be repaired and cars run
ning, when the company will go
to Mobley’s Park for the rest of '
the week.

Lieut. P. C. Harris, of the
13th U. S. Infantry, arrived in
the city Tuesday to spend a few
days with his parents, Dr. and
Mrs. C. H. Harris.
The gallant Lieutenant is off
duty for a month on leave, hav
ing recently recovered from a
seige of yellow fever at Santia
go. While detained in quanan
tine at Tampa, he also had an
attack of Malarial fever, and his
strength and “rotundity” have
both been greatly reduced by his
illness. He talks in a very inter
esting manner about the three
days’ fight in which he partici
pated at Santiago, and of the
Cuban country and people. His
regiment was in the thickest o'
the light and lost very heavily
in officers and men.
His host of Cedartown friends
are glad indeed that he survived
the perils of battle and disease.
Lieut. Harris expects to leave
Saturday for Ft. Porter, Buffa
lo, N Y. r,o visit nis family be
fore re-joining his regiment.
One member of his family is a
fine boy whom he has not yet
seen, having arrived in his
household during his Cuban
campaign.
Mrs. M. A Nevin and Mrs.
W. V. Brumby, who have been
the guests of the family of Mr.
R Brumby, have returned to
Rome.
Mrs. W. A. Chapman return
ed from Rome Monday, where
she spent last week with her
sister, Mrs. T. R. Garlington.
Mr. W. A. Wright, of Rome,
has been visiting his brother.

week.
