The exact increase was 1,738, The total number of white children of a school age, ac cording co the present census, is 336,689. The total number of ctlored children is 316,560. The increase of the whites over the census of 1893 is 21,849. The en crease oflcolored over the census of 1896 i» 26,626. This sh w that the colored have increased with greater rapidito. Commissioner Glenn expected the increase to be- greater than shown by the census on account of the fact that a great many people havemoved to Geoagia from other states during the past few years and a num’' of colonies have been estr.hl'-ho-J. He thought the increase won id be almost 60,000 and was a lit •le surprised when the returns failed to sh »w-larger increases. • The work on the consolidated sheet has been done by Colonel Woodall and as soon as Floyd county’s returns are will complete it.
