London, Sept. 17.—The new
I'vang Railroad bone of con
tention seems to have been defi
nitely resigned by England and
ussia, and the Eastern ques
tion becomes for the time harm
ess i but it appears definitely
determined that a force ot
reach and Abyssinians have
occupied Fashoda, on the Nile,
t . n Ile Lne of the Anglo-Egyp

is not large enough to fight, if it
wanted to, but the attitude King

danger. Since he has thrashed

A NARROW ESCAPE.
1 hankful words written by
Mrs. Ada E. Hart, GrotonS. D.
“Was taken with a bad cold
which settled on my lungs;
cough set in and finally termi
nated in Consumption. Four
doctors gave me up, saying I
could not live but a short time.
I gave myself up to my Savior,
determined if I could not stay
with my friends on earth, I
would meet my absent ones
above. My husband was advis
ed to get Dr. King’s New Dis
covery for Consumption,Coughs
and Colds. I gave it a trial, took
in all eight bottles. It has cured
me, and thank Ood I am saved
and now a well and healthy

MUIPLDOSPOWOT
His Former Enemy Laading Ar
my of 1 5,000 Agajnst Him.
Manila, Sept. 16.—Instead of
evacuating all the suburbs, as
ordered by Gen. Otis, the Fili
pinos are concentraring at San
tana, and it is reported that
Aguinaldo has ordered that this
place be held at any cost.
Isabalo Artacho, who was
condemned to death by Aguin
aldo for treachery, but escaped,
is said to be leading 15,000 men
against him. All Spaniards in
the northern provinces are pris
oners. The rebel steamer Bulus
an has been sunk by a Spanish
gunboat.
Aguinaldo’s parliament open
ed with great ceremony at Mal
oslos, which has been made the
temporary capital of the revolu
tionary government. He moved
in state to the assembly and
addressed it in a flowery non
committal speech. The absence
of several influential natives
was observed. A strong party
favors opposition to any foreign
pratectorate. Unanimity exists
in the determination to rid the
islands of Spanish rule.
