Fires Are Scarce. —The 1 st
fire the department was called
out to extinguish was ,ou the night

blaze. This makes a splendid

Bells And Lanterns.—ln
council meeting last night the
city fathers, by a unanimous
vote, passed an ordinance com
pelling bicyclists who ride after
dark, to provide their wheels
with bells and lanterns. This is
a wise ordinance and one that
should have been passed years
ago.

M. B. Eubanks disposed of a
number of police court cases to
day. There were several “Beaver
Slide” picnics and Broad street
cussin’ matches reviewed, and
the guilty were lined while the
innocent and the accused who
were not convicted,were permitt
ed to go.
City Court Adjourned.—
Judge George Harris wound up
his fall term of the city court
yesterday, and night ad
journed the court, Today the
Judge is in the Flatwoods shoot
ing squirrels and recuperating
from the tedious and often ardu
ous labors imposed by his du
ties on the bench.
Corporal Grimm Sick.—Cor
poral Payton Grimm, who ar
rived in the city yesterday morn
ing on a three days furlough is
confined to lus bed with fever.
Dr. Rarnsaur is attending him.
Capt. Henry Stewart, of Co. B,
Third Georgia, Corporal
Grimm’s command, has been
notified and will get the furlough
extended at once.
, Died Ln Panama. —Mr, Will
Darby received a cablegram from
Celon, Panama yesterday morn
ing announcing the death of bis
brother-in-Haw John Warren,
which occurred there SaturdayJMr.
Warren was known here, as he
formerly resided in this city- He
has been in the isthmus for some
years with his father on the Pana
ma railroad. He was about 24
years of ago a d a splendid young
fellow.
